Could you please just pray for me? I'm Orthodox now, but I'm having a lot of trouble with feeling like I fit into the crowd where I've gone to church. I think a lot of it has to do with the pain and how it affects my behavior. People just don't understand it seems.  |

I forgot to mention that the pain becomes extreme when a weather front is moving in. That's what's happening now.
I don't know why, but my back tightens up painfully and I become extremely depressed as it approaches.

Lord, have mercy! I am in the same boat, although for a different reason... I also experience an enormously hard time fitting in, but not because of the "crowd" at church being culturally, ethnically foreign - rather, because of my particular "crowd" (family and friends) being non-believers, philosophers-sceptics of various sorts.  The only advice I think I can give, based on my own experience - just live one day at a time. If you have serious seasonal affective disorder, see a physician and take a medicine (that is extremely important - you don't want that serotonin to escape from your brain synapses!!!). Read good books, watch good movies, avoid negative or quarrelsome people. God will take care of the rest! |

I know this sounds silly, but have you had your sinuses checked recently? I have the same problem and a history of sinus problems. It's gotten to the point where I don't even feel the sinus pressure build when a front rolls through, but my body will still react as it's being stressed. Menthol and breathing exercises help open the airways, and the stress gradually diminishes. A good ENT would probably be more helpful. |
