How to save a shoveled parking place in Boston
« on: January 16, 2008, 11:25:36 PM »
A friend up in the Snowy North outside of Boston sent me this link on the custom of if one digs a parking place in the snow it can be marked with some object and others will not take it.  Here is is the particular picture:

All too easy to go into my usual rant about Boston...

...so I won't. :-X

Ah yes. It is a venerable tradition. Thank goodness I don't drive here! Here in the North End, there aren't any parking spots to save! In East Boston or Southie, however, it's cutthroat.

Mumbles has been trying to stop this, but he's only been able to decree that it should only be practiced for two days after snowstorms.

"Mumbles"?  Is that the mayor?

If you have ever dug out a parking spot when you get 12 inches plus of snow, and that is heavy snow...
I'm glad I have a garage nowadays!
