Old Believers Plane Crash
« on: January 11, 2008, 02:13:59 PM »
http://www.adn.com/nation/story/257992.html

This is a sad story, but what I found suprising were the quotes by a brother of one of the victims.  I was under the impression that Old Believers were very reluctant to talk with the media.
On the spiritual path somewhere between the Simpsons and St. Theophan the Recluse, but I still can't see the Springfield city limits sign yet.

Lord, have mercy.

Lord have mercy. Deaths during the Nativity season are always especially hard.

Greetings News Forum,

Just so everyone understands correctly...

People of right Faith and Practice have never, and will never, die in such an accidental manner.

Forgive, John Alden

John a serious question is everything you say or do a parody like Borat or Ali G. I seriously want to know because the things you constantly say are so outrageous that the only way to reconcile it is that either it is a joke or that you somehow have a very small amount of self awareness. Brother regardless of the answer I pray.

P.S: When are you meant to be "escaping" from the world (e.g not going on the internet).

The sins I don't commit are largely due to the weakness of my limbs.

Hogwash - sometimes people of right Faith and Practice find death in such ways to deliver them from suffering in this world.

Pray for them, and ask for their forgiveness, not mine - you have not sinned against me, brother.

Lord, have mercy on your servants, and keep their memory eternal!

Met. Meletios of Nikopolis & Preveza, from his ordination.

So you're saying that people of right Faith and Practice would never have been in the plane to begin with, so that their presence in the plane is evidence to you that they were, in fact, not of right Faith and Practice?

Dear John,

Is it true that some Old Believers refuse to fly believing Aeroplanes are held up in the sky by demons?

So let me get this straight?  Instead of coming here to pray for the souls of these people, created in the image and likeness of God Himself, who died, you come on here to disparage their supposed lack of faith?

That, my friend, is reprehensible.  cf Romans 14

May God have mercy on his servants who died in the plane crash.

 :o ::)

Actually, I think he is saying that people of "right Faith and Practice" will never die accidentally (though that does beg the question, how will they die?). So all accidental deaths (plane crash, automobile accident, piano falling from a window, etc) are evidence that the victims were not of "right Faith and Practice."

Well said Schultz.  Remember though that Mr. John Alden is made in the image and likeness of God who for some reason finds OC.Net a safe place to vent his ideas and get us all riled up. (but I'm sure he's a really cautious and safety conscious truck driver too.  That's just hedging your bet.)
