Just wanted to greet you all (or, as we say here in the Deep South of the USA, "all y'all") as my wife, daughter, daughter's fiance and I are sitting down to the Svyata Vecherya - the Ukrainian "Holy Supper" on the Eve of the Nativity of our Lord.

Thank you! We are having a number of fish dishes, indeed, and also a vegetatian borshch, sauteed cabbage, onions, garlic, incredibly delicious dumplings, and lots of "kutya" (whole wheat with lots of honey and nuts). Khrystos Rozhdajet'sya - Slavimo Joho! (Christ is being born, let's give Him glory!)

Zhito is wheat ..that how we serbs say wheat ..we call it koljivo ...it's the same as yours ....stashko
OK, then it's the same dish! We just use a different word for wheat, "pshenytsya," but it's the same species of plant, apparently! Thank you for teaching me some Serbian, brate! |
