Adding Images from a Website to your Message
« on: November 19, 2007, 03:36:01 AM »
1.  Right click the image on a website

2. Click on Properties on the Box which pops up.

3. Copy the address of the image

4. In your Forum message type [img]

5. Paste in the address of the image

6. After the address of the image type [/  img]

7. No spaces between [img   ]and the address of the image[/img   ]

..........I had to put those spaces in or the system cuts out all that is between them.

Or if you have safari you just drag it into iPhoto and then attach it to a post or right click the image to get all the info you need. I use photobucket for larger pictures. You can also create slideshows on photobucket.

she no go...

When I right clicked there was no "Properties" choice. So I clicked on "send image" and did get an address. I tried to post it as you can see but it did not show up.

Suggestions?

Thanks a million

If you wish to demonstrate coding to people, just use the [ code ] tag (without the spaces in the brackets).

Code: [Select]
[img]http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=5077;type=avatar[/img]
The above shows up as:

Everything is ok, except the slash in the [ /img ] is in the wrong direction (always / and not \).  Try it now, only without any spaces between the brackets.

I think there is a problem when the forum tries to render that image in the tags.  It messes up this post each time I try it.

Hmmm.  That created errors in FF every time I tried it.  Good thing I also have Chrome on this computer.
------------------------------------------------------

So, now that you know how to embed the photo in your post, another useful tip: you can scale the image down to a smaller size (at least in appearance) by adding either "height" or "width" to the code.  For example, with your above icon:

Code: [Select]
[img height=300]http://horologion.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/port_arthur_icon2.jpg[/img]
The above code looks like this:

Don't have an iPhone, but that shouldn't matter as uploading a file here should be the same no matter what internet device you are using.

Click Additional Options...

You will see, well additional options . . .

Next to Attach click the Chose File button.

Ostensibly, you should then be prompted to navigate through your iPhone's directory. If you know where the image is navigate to it and select it and hit Enter or whatever the iPhone uses. It's been a while since I broke my last iPhone, so I dunno. Then when you are finished with your post, click Post.

If this doesn't work, maybe an iPhone user can help. My iPhone was jail broken and unlocked and I could access the file directories like any computer. Not sure how the iPhone handles finding a specific natively.

Best of luck!

If you use Firefox you can add the imgur uploader.

Once you install it, just right-click any picture on the internet and you have to option to upload to imgur; all the code is done for you there in an instant. No need to register, log in, etc. as at photobucket.

Also you have the option to do selected screenshots, or edit the picture (e.g. resize, crop, etc.) on your first right-click. So fast and easy!

Using code from a partiicular website is fine too, though if the website goes offline your picture will be kaput.

X,

Question, I have always wondered on the rare occasions that you post, what is your avatar of exactly?

Help!

I can't post pictures.

In my post today in "politics", I typed: [img]copy&pasted[/ img]
and it didn't work.

In this thread, I just a few minutes ago dragged the picture over to iphoto and copied/pasted and it didn't work.

I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Help!   ???

1. No ] after first tag.
2. The address has to start with http://www.

It looks like you want to paste a picture from your hard disk. It won't go that way. You have to upload it somewhere on the internet or make it as an attachment to your post (check "additional options").

Where are you trying to copy/load this from? If your computer then you'll have to use the "Additional Options" and use an attachment. If it's online then you will need an address on the web (www.somethinghere.com/coolpic.jpg) to use the image tags...

I think this is what you were looking for.  I put in an { instead of a [ only to show you what the text portion looks like.  It should be an [.

You do realize there's a button along the top of the screen that does this for you, right?  If you look up in the window where you are typing your post, you will see the colorful field - to pick the color of your text.  Just above it is another toolbar of buttons, starting with an colorful circle.  Next to that one, to the right, is a light blue button, looks like a small Polaroid photo.

If you click on that one, it will automatically enter the opening and closing brackets for you, and put your cursor right where it needs to be for you to simply right click and paste, or Ctrl+V...having previously copied the image URL onto your clipboard.

:)

Good luck!

Well, it seems the only way i can get pictures added is as an attachment from my saved photos.  I've tried copying the address from a web page, and the photo from a web page, but to no avail.

You are missing the [ in the end bracket [/img]

It seems that in the past, when I used the "insert image" icon and then inserted the image, somehow the end [ disappeared.  I just now used the icon, noticed the disappearing [, and then reinserted the [, and it worked.  Good eye Liza, and thanks again.
