To all members of OrthodoxChristianity.net, It's hard to believe that it's nearly the end of 2007 and that we're at our 5 year anniversary. It's amazing to have seen this site grow from its infancy into what it is today! So much has happened over the past 5 years too: We've grown an extremely dedicated and talented moderator staff who are the driving force behind our successful forum operation and we have the participation and support of our many posters who make this site what it is. We've had known conversions to Orthodoxy and countless inquiries into our Faith. As we move into the future, we are in need of bigger and better hardware to support the site's growing audience and appeal. To this extent, we have recently moved to a dedicated hosting solution which is meeting our demand quite nicely. Unfortunately, our new solution comes with cost and we here at OrthodoxChristianity.net ask for your support and charity in funding so we can continue to deliver this site and accomplish our ultimate aims of spreading the Faith. We're having a donation drive in hopes to reach $800 dollars, which will cover two year's worth of operating expenses. We have a number of methods for you to donate: check, cash, or credit card. For check/cash, you can send a check made out to : Robert Quick 8457 Reedy Ridge Ln Raleigh, NC 27613 Memo: Orthodoxchristianity.net Fund
For credit card/paypal, you can use the following link to donate: http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/forum/index.php?action=treasuryUnfortunately, we cannot offer tax deductions for these donations, but we hope to set ourselves up as a not-for-profit in the near future. Again, thank you for making this site a success and thank you for your consideration! Robert

In case anyone was wondering:
server space = 30 a month X 24 Months + 40 dollars for 2 years' of domain names for orthodoxchristianity.net and orthodox.ws plus tax = 800 bucks.
Why two years' worth at one time? In order to keep things running smoothly and not have to interrupt you all on a regular basis.

Do we have any big-name personalities that are going to be spearheading this fund drive? How about a telethon, or a webathon?

a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has graciously donated so far.
If you could send me a PM (if you haven't already) indicating that you donated, that would be great. I'm not always easily able to pair up email addresses to usernames on the site. We'd really like to recognize you as a site supporter and for your contribution!

Just wondering if any of the Admin could update us on how we are going with the donation drive. Are we any closer to our goal?

Hi,
Sure.
As of today, we have nearly $475 dollars towards our goal of $800...so we're over half-way there!
A HUGE thank you again for all who have donated, and if we have not publically recognized you (and you wish to be recognized with a "Site Supporter" tag), please send me a PM.
Thank you again! Robert

We're doing great! I want to thank everyone for their continued generosity, support, prayers, and donations. They go a very long way to keep this site up and running. I'm a bit behind on my OC.net affairs, but I plan on getting caught up soon. My apologies for slow responses to IMs, etc.
I will post detailed figures once I get back up to speed.

Many thanks to all who have donated. Your generosity has been magnificent and I am grateful for how giving this community is on so many fronts.
We've been receiving donations steadily from all corners of the world.
I would love to recognize everyone who has donated with a special Site Supporter title in their user account. Please send me a PM if you would this added.
I am working on a budget spreadsheet and will be posting it publicly shortly, illustrating our operating expenses and how much money we've received.
Again, many, many thanks for your generosity. It keeps the site running!

I just wanted to thank everyone for making the OCnet donation drive successful. We did not make our target of 800, but at 650, we have enough cash to cover operating costs through approximately the end of next year (approx. Oct 2009). We'll keep you posted If you were expecting to be made a "site supporter" and did not receive that title, there may have been an oversight. Please let me know and I will remedy that. in Christ, Fr Anastasios
