Kinshasa, DR Congo – Patriarch Theodore II of the Orthodox church will begin a pastoral visit to DR Congo on Wednesday, the archbishop of this Central African church, Mgr Ignatos, announced Monday in Kinshasa.
Mgr Ignatos said the Patriarch would visit Kinshasa, Mbanza Ngungu, in the province of Bas-Congo, and in Kananga, in Western Kasaï, before going to Congo where he went to Brazzaville, Pointe Noire and Dolisie.
Theodore II will also inaugurate a theological seminary in Kinshasa before going on to lay the foundation stone of a primary school, and that of a temple in Pointe Noire, in Congo/Brazzaville..
In Kinshasa as in Brazzaville, the patriarch Theodore II will have several talks with political authorities, namely with presidents Joseph Kabila and Denis Sassou Nguesso, separately.
The visit of the spiritual leader of the Orthodox Church to the two Congo will on 4 October 2007, Mgr Ignatos added.
