Here is an article and photos from our Food Festival this weekend.

Notice at the end how it says that ours is better than the nearest Greek Festival.  Grin Tongue

Thanks Elisha!!

Nice photos!

Looks like It was a great day.

I was happy to see that the Eritreans are 'confident' in keeping with thier orthodox traditon of head covering. Many Ethiopian and Eritrean woman loose the head covering once they are living in the west ( most  9 out of 10 will still wear it albeit inside the church sancturary only). This is much more do to 'wanting' to "fit-in" than anything else. In Eritrea and Ethiopia head covering by orthodox christian woman is revered. The woman love to keep this tradition. It is an important part of being and "feeling" like an Ethiopian Christian. In Africa in general head covering is common as a practice among women long before Judaism and Christianity.

All the photos were very nice.
The weather seemed to appear very pleasant.

I have a nun staying with us now who just arrived last Saturday (resting up before a long jouney to Ethiopia) who had been visiting a convent in Santa Rosa CA. She brought my family some nice gifts from the St Serafim church.

I guess she missed the festival by one day.

Small world.

God bless you.

Dn. Amde,

Not all Eritrean women wear a head covering outside of church or even in church for that matter (much higher percentage in church).  Still, as you can see, a lot do wear the head covering.  At the festival is one of the only times I get to have their coffee - yum!

We were happy to see a mother and two teenage daughters who had moved to SoCal come up for the festival.

But it is an opinion by someone who does not go to either parish and has now gone to both festivals! Wink Tongue

Looks like a good time had by all.
I would like to give a special commendation to the guy who arrived at the Church on a Harley! I take my hat off to him!
