Rarely listen to music outside what gets piped into my ears that I have no control over but over the last couple of days / week . . .

Let's start with one of the greatest rock songs ever. Hadn't listened to it forever:

Heroin - Velvet Underground

« Reply #3302 on: June 14, 2012, 06:43:16 PM »

A lot of the white people music I know, I first hear in a TV show or a movie. This in one of the four or so decent episodes of Weeds:

Littlest Birds - Be Good Tanyas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdIhpkEkC4c

The fact I can listen to this song says something given the fact I was abused by Bluegrass and Country growing up.

Never saw the video before posting this, probably would have not made it past second 2.743, if I first encountered it via the video.

Genius. There is one moment in this one that is pure brilliance.

I tend to be more selective when it comes to rock, so there's not many that I keep around and listen to year after year, but that's definitely one of my favorite albums. Good stuff all the way through (or most of the way anyway).  Smiley

I'm On A Boat - The Lonely Island

Given my genre, I cannot compete with you James. Somewhere on this forum I sort of explained my rejection of popular music from the Beatles onward. There was one exception and I went to see him at Winterland in SF: Frank Zappa. My brother for some reason bought the album Freak Out. He is interesting, here is an example, it might be about the Pope, but I doubt it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nsjbKd-H4Y

The complete album here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_95u4axtNY

Curious to hear how you deal with it.

I am truly stunned...of all the people on the board, I'd have never guessed in my wildest dreams that you would have seen Zappa in concert.
