AFR Interview with Matushka Juliana Schmemann wife of the reposed Fr. Alexander Schmemann. http://ancientfaith.com/podcasts/features/matushka_juliannaAt the Divine Liturgy on Thanksgiving, it is a tradition in our parish for our Priest to read Fr. Alexander's last homily he gave knowing it would probably be his last. Words from a man who taught so many what being partakers in Eucharist truly meant: Everyone capable of thanksgiving is capable of salvation and eternal joy.
Thank You, O Lord, for having accepted this Eucharist, which we offered to the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and which filled our hearts with the joy, peace and righteousness of the Holy Spirit.
Thank You, O Lord, for having revealed Yourself unto us and given us the foretaste of Your Kingdom.
Thank You, O Lord, for having united us to one another in serving You and Your Holy Church.
Thank You, O Lord, for having helped us to overcome all difficulties, tensions, passions, temptations and restored peace, mutual love and joy in sharing the communion of the Holy Spirit.
Thank You, O Lord, for the sufferings You bestowed upon us, for they are purifying us from selfishness and reminding us of the "one thing needed;" Your eternal Kingdom.
Thank You, O Lord, for having given us this country where we are free to Worship You.
Thank You, O Lord, for this school, where the name of God is proclaimed.
Thank You, O Lord, for our families: husbands, wives and, especially, children who teach us how to celebrate Your holy Name in joy, movement and holy noise.
Thank You, O Lord, for everyone and everything.
Great are You, O Lord, and marvelous are Your deeds, and no word is sufficient to celebrate Your miracles.
Lord, it is good to be here! Amen. http://www.schmemann.org/byhim/thankyoulord.htmlMemory Eternal!

The Offspring - Staring at the Sun Mr. Ismi caught me jamming to RATM last night while editing files, and it was tres embarrassing. Yeah, there comes an age when you have to hide your enjoyment of RATM. For me it was soon after graduating from college and getting a job. Now, that's not to say that I don't still enjoy them, I just can't admit it in public. Like I pretty much just did.

Haha! Actually, it's not the RATM part that I am more ashamed of. Mr. Ismi should never talk about that, because he STILL listens to them and he's just shy of 30.
Yes, fighting the system songs can sound awkward when you work for the Man and have somewhat conservative views (although he's a socialist -- I'm not). But the music is good, IMO!
I am much more ashamed at the jamming part. I only dance in public if it's choreographed beforehand. Anyone catching me in a sweat dancing session or playing the air drums should be shot on sight. LOL.
Offspring day, I guess. "Come Out and Play" right now. Ah, childhood.

Capitalizing the T? My editor would beat me over the head right now. I do have to admit that every choice I have ever made --books, movies, music -- in my 24 years of life, has been made with the sole purpose of disgusting orthonorm. I think I'm batting 1.000, no? For the sake of continuity, it's back to Rammstein for a minute -- Das Alte Leid. My Zune is on random so Lacuna Coil is up next. Followed by Ace of Base. I'm too embarrassed to list the next one.

Well, Rammstein = Win. Especially anything off of Herzeleid. As for embarrassing songs, my friend and I have a deal where we are allowed one girly song before we call each other gay. (His is Ke$ha, BTW). I will not be admitting mine. Being female you could probably get away with two. EDIT - Changed aloud to alowed to alowwed to allowed. Phail. EDIT - Oh yeah, and since you replied while I was editing I added the last part as well.

The Corrs- Black is the Color http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C2V4JuMMIwThis song is so hauntingly beautiful, but the only version I like is done by an obscure artist called Anne Bryony. Joan Baez, Sinnead O'Connor, Nina Simone, they just don't have the tempo and gravitas which the lyrics invoke in me. The Corrs come close but I just can't get behind her vocals. She sounds like Brittney Spears to me.
