Used to think this was sung by a woman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmEBBskGizY

I'm on a Doo Wop kick.

And he's still going strong.  My in-laws see him in concert at least once a year.

I'm a big fan of J-Pop music, so I listen to a lot of it. I can't understand most of it, but the voices and music sound nice. That's enough for me.

Recently, I've discovered a J-Pop singer named KOKIA who was apparently raised a Christian, and Christian themes show up in much of her work. She's also sung many hymns (in some pretty good English, no less). Right now I'm listening to "Remember the Kiss" a song by her (actually, she wrote it in memory of 9/11). She's got a stunning voice.

Here's an example of her singing "Scarborough Fair" and "Amazing Grace". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkUVJQ042sM

Not bad for a native Japanese. She's on iTunes here in the US if anyone's curious.

The husband is a BIG Peggy fan. Although he only watches the show with me once in a while, when we're out in public and we see a red-headed woman in a Roland Mouret-type pencil-skirt dress, he always says, "Hey! Hey, there's Joan, over by the soda machine!"  :)

In the interest of keeping this thread on-topic (although MM is a very good topic to veer off to), Roni - Sukaria. The Israeli Britney Spears....but her songs are so durn catchy.

Indeed! I wish I had known about her long ago. As a fan of Japanese culture, I like being able to hear a jpop singer singing Christian music.

Brahms--Symphony # 2 with the Orchestre Revolutionnairre et Romantique conducted by John Eliot Gardiner who tries a period recreation of this work.  Very interesting. I like the results, but I think I still prefer von Karajan's version.

Brings back a lot of childhood memories, but then again, all of his songs do. Haven't heard this song for years.

Right now, it's "Face the Truth."

The cute as a button Polish singer is impossible to understand so I am finally looking up the lyrics to the band's songs. I feel enlightened! ;)

Eh, I don't like her jerky puppet dance and her "Stevie Nicks moments" of vibrato, to me it screams "quirky for quirky's sake" louder than if Lady Gaga and Niki Minaj got hellishly fused together in a nuclear accident.

But that's just me.

Workout music, baby.

I always liked Der Meister and Seemann off that album.  If you get the chance you should hear Seemann covered by Apocalyptica (that Finnish cello band named after the Mel Gibson movie) with Nina Hagen.

I know when I tell everyone what I was listening to this evening, I'm going to get a lot of "WHAT?! But it's only NOVEMBER!!" But let me explain:

Next week is Thanksgiving in the US, and my boyfriend and I are going to be traveling to South Carolina to spend the week with his family. Since we won't see them for Christmas, we are bringing all of their presents down with us this week.

So tonight I was wrapping Christmas presents, and you can't wrap Christmas presents without listening to Christmas music. It just can't be done. The tape won't stick, the presents won't fit right, one has to go with the other.

Long story short, I was listening to Michael Bublé's latest Christmas album (appropriately named) "Christmas."

Lemme tell ya, it's amazing! He does a great job of keeping the feeling of the classics while putting his own twist on them. If you haven't picked it up already, do so. You will be glad you did. :)

Simply astounding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmdPQp6Jcdk

I would have swapped this animal and your other animal on the video thread. I love this video; everything about it hits the spot for me. Even that it sounds like they're playing in a baked bean tin and the eerie smiling man behind him and the disparity between the video and audio when the lead vocalist (with amazing eyes) belts out his top notes. Perfect!

Me too lol. It was just for the 60s prop "humor" (sometimes those heads were sold with "conquests" on the plaque underneath for a lovely tribute to the apparently fine line between lady  killer and serial killer).

the eerie smiling man behind him
Aaaaa, I never noticed that until now! Looks like we found out what the Joker was doing before he came to Gotham...

I know! It looks like he's just talking! Eric Burdon is definitely one of the great vocalists of blues. And how bout that organ?!

Here's another good one of theirs, and with some thoroughly superlative guitarineeringmenshipnessosity as well *perfectionist eye twitch at the misspelled song title* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4Sfh8LFMaw

Rammstein - Asche zu asche

Workout music, baby.

I always liked Der Meister and Seemann off that album.  If you get the chance you should hear Seemann covered by Apocalyptica (that Finnish cello band named after the Mel Gibson movie) with Nina Hagen.
I actually like those songs too! Of course, Du Reichst So Gut and Herzeleid are my other favs on the album.

(This is coming from someone with a very small German vocabulary, slightly expanded after a short lesson yesterday ;) ).

Will check out the Apocalyptica cover! I've heard the 7th Symphony album, but that's about it.

This morning it's No Doubt -- Spiderwebs, Don't Speak, Just a Girl. All that good stuff.
She's touring the facility/and picking up slack.

This morning my work-mix to get me is David Bowie, Cat Stevens, and Bob Dylan.  Usually don't care for Bobby D, but Lay Lady Lay and Knocking on Heaven's Door are great songs.  He even sound like he hasn't smoke 87 cigarettes in a row on Lay Lady Lay.
