I have at least 10 of those views. When a song won't leave my head, I have to play the video a few times. (I refuse to download that song on iTunes) I have to explain viewing Ke$ha and Katy Perry music videos when people use my computer... (I can't stand them but their songs are just too darn catchy that I'll find myself singing them without knowing it!) Now I'm listening to Real McCoy: Automatic Lover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr20jAdM45cI have a very soft spot in my heart for 90s Europop music.

That guy's pretty good. It always amazes me when people cover Megadeth well because Dave Mustaine's music is so difficult to play unless you're really plugged into his writing style.

Listening to Within Temptation's new CD, the Unforgiving! I love it so far. (Also mixing in some Rage from BOLA, because I'm in the mood.) Sirenia also came out with a new album, which I'll listen to next.. I liked most of The 13th Floor...we'll see. (They change singers constantly and I think that the CDs generally have some clunkers mixed in with a few very good songs.) Amon Amarth just came out with a new CD last month, I think. Went to Best Buy after leaving church to pick it up...my husband is in 7th heaven right now (Sorry, AA fans, but my ears kind of hurt ). Oh, music!

(Although I can sing Guardians of Aasgaard word for word. I will only do that in front of him because...well, a female singing Viking death metal? Not pretty.)

LOL! I just might have to do that for one of my own personal rocksteady compilations!
It's wonderful, although, like most of these newer Trojan Records comps, it's most of the same songs that show up on all these comps with a few rare or as-to-yet unreleased songs. Since I love just about everything Duke Reid touched between 1965 and 1971, this is right up my alley.

Liberal use of operatic Well, yes. Compared to the female vocalist Arch Enemy, the singer from Within Temptation is most certainly operatic.

Hm, clear, yes. Operatic? Not so much. She isn't like Tarja-era Nightwish. More like Delain.

Thanks I can't count how many times I've wanted to like a band, and then I heard the vocals and it just ruined it for me. That's my favorite part of symphonic metal....some of the female singers are amazing, but of course YMMV on what you like! (I actually like the new Nightwish than Tarja...if I wanted to listen to opera, I would listen to opera.) To each his own.

"Not Waving, Drowning" - Sheer Terror
Some days, programming my bi-weekly podcast is a delight. This is not one of them. Thankfully, songs like this make it worth it. I'm not playing this particular one (I think I've settled on "Here to Stay") but listening through the Sheer Terror catalog has made a relatively stressful day that much better and easier to deal with.

I recently got a CD of Beethoven's late Choral Music (excluding the monumental Ninth Symphony and Missa Solemnis) and I'm absolutely glued to this one charming (yeah, I know charming doesn't really characterize Beethoven's music) piece called the Bundeslied (op. 122) which is scored for 3 part chorus, 2 soloists, 2 horns, 2 bassoons and 2 clarinets. The text is a poem of Goethe about the joys of enjoying others' company. This one is has a piano accompaniment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWMZ8mwSTlo

Sirenia - The Path to Decay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouZQ7rgAq-IBleh, I think that a lot of these symph metal music videos are so trite and uninspired. Chick who is probably not goth dressed like a goth? Check. Smeared makeup and black eyeliner? Check. (It's totally okay to have her as a non-goth, guys, I'm sure that the men won't care either way) Heh, I'm such a frustrated director. (Is that the right phrase? It doesn't sound right for some reason.) Also re-living my childhood by listening to Amy Grant's Heart in Motion album. (Yes, I AM young)
