Football season is almost upon us again, which means it's time for that time-honored tradition of watching Charlie Brown try to kick the football from Lucy's hold with very painful results ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTUy_mlpgy4). In honor of this, I thought it good to offer you Vince Guaraldi's great jazz chart, "Linus and Lucy".

40:1 by Sabaton. Some of our Polish posters (and WWII buffs) may find it interesting. Its about the Battle of Wizna which had it's 71 year anniversary just a few days ago.

That's kinda old. I've listened to that song many times. Sadly, Sabaton is overly commercialised. In the original released video, at the time of "Spirit, soul and heart in accordance with the old traditions" there was a scene of a Catholic Mass being prayed but in later versions that scene was cut out. They cut that out and replaced it with a cheap american-style sex scene between a sanitariuszka(nurse) and wounded soldier.

Here's a traditional Damascene wedding from the Syrian drama series Ahlur-Raaya, set in the time of the Ottomans. As worthy of parody as Syrian acting can sometimes be, particularly because of the Damascene drawl (especially in the case of the women), it is this authenticity in the recreation of the past through traditional scenes like this as well as through the use of the old Damascene dialect and speech that I think keeps Syrian dramas ahead of the rest in the industry. Of course the music here is religious music and Islamic. The women's less melodious bit is, well, of a different vein, but a nice thrust of the palm in the face of modern sensibilities: "My dear is calling me, and he wants to eat eggplant." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT5zKR5oiDo

I just found out about them a couple months ago on one of the WWII forums (starting to get interested in the Polish Campaign). That's too bad about the commercialization.

the Ramones. Constantly. My band is doing a tribute concert at the end of October and I've been listening to the same 20 songs over and over and over and over and over again so we can get them right. My wife, even though she probably likes the Ramones more than I do, can't wait for this to be over because I'm constantly mumbling, "1, 2, 3, 4!" under my breath as I go over the tunes in my head while putzing about the house.
