I'm listening for the mighty wind!

John
Courteous is my name,
and I have always aimed to live up to it.
Grace is also my name,
but when things go wrong
its Courteous whom I blame;
but its Grace who sees me through it.

I have all of these things on my mp3 player and I set it on random, and then I pray to my guardian angel to give me some good advice. But sometimes I think the devil gives me some advice from it.

Or maybe its just random, you know. Do you think that things happen by 'chance'?

St Dorotheos says that If a person truly desires the will of God with all his heart, God will illuminate a small child to reveal His will to him.

But if a person does not truly desire the will of God, even if that person should go to a prophet, the Lord will reveal in the heart of the prophet an answer in accordance with the deception in his own heart.  This is from a verse form Ezekiel.

That is what St Dorotheos tells us in his chapter, 'That One Should Not Trust His Own Understanding'

He also tells us the history of Rock Music, and how evil it is.

I have heard the backward masking that they do, it is demonic. Even rap music, which I used to listen to, has demonic backward masking.

Reminds me of one of my favorite black metal bands - Hail Satanic Majority - they did the vocals backwards so you have to reverse the rest. Sadly, it's not a good song. Good idea, though. It starts out like "wtf" but by the second track it's rather eerie.

Mind you, this was done in the 1990s.

How can you, being 'Christian' listen to such horrible music?

You cannot drink the cup of the devils and the cup of the Lord at the same time.

I never said it was good(to me currently) - simply that is in reply to the "playing the music backwards tog et an evil message".. here they have it backwards already and you must play it -forwards- to see the message. :)

Can you see how it is an attempt at irony/silliness?

Even if deliberate backward masking exsists, there is absolutely no scientific evidence that it effects the listner in any way whatsoevere. and btw, Paul is alive.

What can science tell us these days?

Science has corrupted the minds of the youth and rebelled against the very concept of God.

They put science in front of God, when God assumed science, it does not deny it.

We've been brainwashed into believing that science can solve all our problems.

I wise man will increase in learning, but a fool will not hear rebuke. Read the proverbs.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I guess that makes me a fool also because I have trouble learning sometimes ;D

Heavy Metal music glorifies the Devil.

I would agree that deathmetal might "glorify the Devil"... But I regularly listen to rock bands like AC/DC, Metallica, Alter Bridge, Tool, Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne just to name a few, and I can tell you that they don't "glorify" the devil... In fact, I've found many rock songs discuss our human condition more accurately than many non-rock songs that are secular.

I also play the electric guitar and can play many of the riffs from these songs, I really honestly do not see what is so demonic about it, other than someone fantasizing that the distortion "sounds demonic"...
Also, the music effects you just like all music does, I listen to some Pop songs and I want to dance, I listen to rock music and want to headbang, I listen to R&B and I want to dance... I listen to some rap/hip hop music and I want to vomit...
Rock music really isn't different than other types of music, you just need to be conscious of the lyrics and the band itself.

Oh man, rap music is sooo evil, now they glorify the devil.

I used to listen to rap music so much, I though it was so cool, I thought that the beats were cool and the rapping.
Its sooo evil because it glorifies drug use, Marijuana smoking, money, drinking, doing pills, selling and snorting Cocaine, Ecstacy pills, commiting adultery, murdering, selling drugs, being the most proud person EVER.

What would you do if I told you that I did most of these things? Its possible... Horribly possible.

Rap music is the most evil openly diabolical music ever created.

I used to this rap song called, ''I Love it'' and the rapper says in the song, ''And when I get to hell Lord know I'm gonna fry!''

Its so sad how the devil can deceive people so much.

Rock music is just way too secular though.

It may express what modern man may be going through in their lives.

But a Orthodox Christian, who partakes of the sacramental life should never need to listen to them.

Just ask yourself, ''Would Christ listen to such music?''

The only thing that rock music has ever done for me is lust after worldly things, despise the Government (I listened to anti-flag) and become really, really, depressed (like suicidal depressed)

Listening to rock music is like drinking salty ocean water to quench your thirst.

Only God can quench the thirst of man.

DTTW,

Sometimes you see what you want to see. 'Nuff said.

EDIT: Also, if you feel "depressed" from the music, maybe you cannot relate or are trying to hard? IMO depressive music actually makes me feel better because I know i'm not alone - that the moods are also shared by a human being. I walk away happier having let it all out in some way. I think that's the difference between the "wannabe" and the sincere.

If science is the poetry of reality...
what reality exists between two lovers?

If science be the cup of sobriety...
what reality causes the heart to maintain its first love?

Science is a string of ????????X???????
not about reality but the control of our sensuality.

From dust you were taken and to dust shall you return...
So I ask science to explain: when my physiology ceases to be
what is left of my reality?

Poetic replies only, please!

Christ is Risen!

Even if deliberate backward masking exsists, there is absolutely no scientific evidence that it effects the listner in any way whatsoevere. and btw, Paul is alive.

What can science tell us these days?...

Science tells us plenty. Mainly how to use the brains G-d gave us to make the world a better place.
Our intellect is a gift and should be used.

Songbirds are awesome.
100. Like a bee one should extract from each of the virtues what is most profitable. In this way, by taking a small amount from all of them, one builds up from the practice of the virtues a great honeycomb overflowing with the soul-delighting honey of wisdom.

Satan whispers, but we chant down his lies!

"Lord have mercy."

The Demons believe and tremble

James 2:9
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

The Devil loves to delude people according to this verse:

2Cor 11:14
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Do you know what this site is missing?

A thread where we just post verses from Holy Scripture!

The Gospels!

The Psalms!

The New Testament!

I don't think that the Old Testament KJV is very accurate though.

Here is where a much more accurate Old Testament text is: The LXX (70 Apostles)

http://www.ecmarsh.com/lxx/

But the New Testament KJV was translated out of the Greek LXX text.

Thats good to know.
