Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices - Mалка Mома

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdqjcW8u7Lw

Music from Grendizer/Goldorak and Saint Seiya/Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque, classic, classic '70s and '80s animes respectively from a golden time when Arabs, French, and Latin Americans, overly obssessive and hopeless romantics all, grew up and revelled in and supped on the masterpieces of earlier decades before the late pop-culture, North American obsession with anime ushered in by the Pokemon craze.  These productions reflected the music of the time.

OK, I've got four CD's from my 20something daughter-Cool Music for Mom 1, 2, 3, and Music for Mom to Learn by heart-she is trying to educate me and broaden  my horizons...and because I have been working with my guitar and singing again she says I need to get away from all that  V(a part of a woman's anatomy) music...her term for female-singer/songwriter/folk/blues I listen to-not because it's feminist-but it just a girl an a guitar and rep of the same song over and over-according to her.

Well I started with the Learn by heart CD because that is the one I am going to be quizzed on-18 songs, 12 artists.-I am taking them one at a time. I like to learn a bit about the band-and lyrics and all

#1-I will survive-by CAKE yes it's a remake of the old 70's? disco song-but more gritty(with some profanity) and with an edge and sharp as a knife...an improvement-musicical arrangement and all, over the original in my opinion-but anything would be.

The only other experience I have with CAKE is a guilty favorite Called "Sheep go to heaven-goats go to hell".  fun and campy, and if your looking for something deeper-it's might be there-music and phrasing give some of it dubious interpretations (it could be a musical version of the verse "Vanity Vanity...all is Vanity".

There is also a popular online arcade game using the song-you try to shoot the goats (who go up and flames-and to hell, I assume), spare the sheep (who also go up in flames if you accidently hit them).  Shocked
I found it and sent her-she thought it was such a hoot-she says it's her first stop when she is stressed-being a college student-I guess it beats drinking, smoking and whatever it is they do for stress management on college campus these days.
It's rather tame compared to others things I've seen.http://www.arcadetown.com/sheepgotoheaven/gameonline.asp

SmileyI think I like CAKE...fun and some serious socio-political-theological commentary is some of there stuff-and the music is not simplistic-great bridges and unexpected combos of chord progression and syncopation (a little thing to look for-good sign they know something about music).

keep you posted on my new music education

Bonus Jack White track=We're Going to Be Friends-very sweet

btw, looking up his back-round, he was raised in a large devout Roman Catholic family, father worked for the local archdioces-Jack almost ended up in seminary-
glad that didn't work out-I think he followed his real calling and used his gifts
and I wouldn't get to listen to sweet words like: angel

"Well here we are,no one else
we walked to school all by ourselves
there's dirt on our uniforms
from chasing all the ants and worms
we clean up and now its time to learn...

Tonight I'll dream while I'm in bed
when silly thoughts go through my head
about the bugs and alphbet
and when I wake tommorow I'll bet
that you and I will walk together again
cause I can tell that we're going to be friends

Tragically, we lost Dennis Brown in 1999. The official cause of death was a collapsed lung. There were rumors that he had a cocain habit which contributed to his demise, but those closest to him adamantly denied this. Dennis Brown was a true Rastaman, and Rastas condemn drug use in the strongest possible terms. (Ganja is a natural herb, and therefore not seen as a drug at all by Rastafarians.)

Bob Marley said Dennis Brown was his favorite reggae singer, and he called him the "Crown Prince of Reggae."

Here is another Dennis Brown classic:
Emmanuel (God With Us)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAJP3pNfp9U

Dennis Brown!
Memory I-ternal!

"When I write a song I try to follow Joseph's way - deliverance through vision from all - true vibration. I want to be a shepherd in my work, teaching and learning, really singing so much. I don't want to sing and not live it. I must live it. If I can sing songs that people can watch me living, then they can take my work."
-Dennis Brown-

Corrosion of Conformity - It Is That Way

That first guitar riff has to be somewhere in my top five favorite riffs. Grin

Boston Byzantine Choir are great. There must be several dozen members, from the sound.

I have one of their CD's.  Highly recommended!  Smiley

You, my friend, have just discovered gold.  Cheesy

Coldplay * Moses

Reminds me of the crazy times with Bono Vox...

Coldplay * Warning Sign Studio Version

"        * Warning Sign Accoustic Version - AOL Sessions

Willie Nelson * Help Me Make It Through The Night

Great song, but this was the only version on Youtube I could find that wasn't accompanied with nekid womenz.  I really don't care for this live version because it seems like he could care less.  But, he is the Outlaw...  Smiley
