I know it's still a few month away, but I can't wait. Too bad I can't go to South Africa for this one; Berlin was a sight to behold.

I actually put in my high school yearbook under "Future Plans" that I would be watching it live in South Africa. Not going to happen, but I'm still pumped. "All By Myself" Original recording by Eric Carmen1996 cover by Celine DionAfter his recording of this song hit the charts in 1975, Carmen had to make arrangements with Sergei Rachmaninoff's estate to give the composer proper credit for much of the music, since the verses quote almost verbatim the melodic theme from the Adagio sostenuto middle movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor. Carmen thought mistakenly that it was already in the public domain.

I still have the first podcast I dl'd off that station on my PC, an interview with a former Rastafarian.
Imagine my surprise to find out Bob Marley had been baptized Ethiopian Orthodox not long before his death.
I had known the Rastas were an offshoot of the Ethiopian Orthodox, but was surprised that the world's most famous Rasta had converted back.
Currently listening to- Redemption Song.

Yes I! Brother Bob is Orthodox! Do be careful, though, about saying Rastafari is an offshoot of the Ethiopian Orthodox. Selam

An offshoot in the same way that JWs or Mormons would be an offshoot of Protestantism... or perhaps more aptly Branch Davidian or the Moonies would be considered an offshoot. As in, not a sect of the church itself, but rather a system of belief that incorporates Ethiopian Orthodox elements while wildly diverging from actual teaching.

I used to listen to this sort of thing before I threw it out because I was afraid of it attracting something bad (negative energy etc.). Just between us though, Candlemass was the one SCARY band. The real deal.

The real deal. I like some of the old school doom metal, but I can never get over the cheesy vocals and bad lyrics of Candlemass. I mean, it's hardly unusual for a metal band to have bad lyrics, but when they're being broadcast in an operatic falsetto it's too much to bear.

I mean, it's hardly unusual for a metal band to have bad lyrics, but when they're being broadcast in an operatic falsetto it's too much to bear. Ah, classic doom... I agree, having often found myself wishing, in this case and others, for a band to have fixed their vocals and lyrics operation if not to have stuck only to instrumental performances. To give an example, I've rarely cared to listen to the so-called extreme genres beyond thrash, but I've not a few times been upset to see the instrumental, technical proficiency that death metal can ably muster paired up with a vocal style characterised by death growls, which I find intensely irritating. In other situations, you may find a vocalist who you would wish would actually respect the potential he has. Take the kings of cheese, Manowar, and the typical lyrical content they deliver. Apart from that mess however, Eric Adams, the man who can really pierce the air with his screams, has a formidable set of pipes that is wasted on what-have-you. Speaking of which, here's some Manowar for you. Hail and all that. Incidentally, I've started thinking that Warriors of the World would make a fitting anthem for Latin traditionalists.
