Today's playlist starts off with the soundtrack to "Shock Treatment", which, while having a better overall feel than Richard O'Brien's previous songwriting in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" just doesn't have the "hits" that its latter soundtrack had.

I believe next in line will be the classic streetpunk album "Shock Troops" by Cock Sparrer.

Just a question for anyone out there. The Raveonettes album Pretty in Black. Worth buying? I've heard a couple of songs played to death and clips off their web page but not enough to make up my mind.

Yes, P.D.Q. Bach (1807-1742)? is a spoof on classical music created by American composer and musicologist, Professor Peter Schickele (b. 1935).

Right now, I'm listening to Ancient Faith Radio. That's what I do when I'm on the forum boards...Otherwise, alot. Recently, The Cure's "Love Song" and Incubus' "Dig." They're both older songs now, but they remind that I miss someone and will see them again soon...

Very! How 'bout their "Love Will Tear Us Apart"? Now that's depressing! I can only listen to them every once in awhile, but I do like them. Y'all should listen to "These Days"; it's a little more upbeat.

Speaking of Joy Division, the new Ian Curtis biopic Control looks phenomenal, and I'm not even that big of a JD fan. I can't wait to see this!

I figured that it was something like that.

Rhythm is often soothing to newborns. Remember they're used to hearing things like the mother's heartbeat as well as other internal sounds along with the softer muffled sounds from outside.

Not to alarm you, but once ours got past the first few weeks after birth, sometimes it was *loud* music that got them to sleep. Our oldest would start to get upset while riding in the car because he was tired, and it was Beethoven turned up that got him to relax and sleep. I don't know why, though it was suggested that it just stunned him.

I have to say that we didn't do that. The Loud Music treatment was when we were going somewhere on purpose and he would get to the "I'm-tired-but-I'm-cranky-so-I'm-NOT-going-to-just-drop-off-quietly-to-sleep" stage. Cue the loud music. It wasn't just Beethoven, though he seemed to work the best.

You know why babies fall asleep to loud music? It's a mechanism for dealing with stress. The loud music so overstimulates their nervous system they sort of shut down.
