I love bagpipes. I wanted to learn to play them when I was younger, but I think my parents threatened to disown me if I did. Or was it the accordion?

Anybody heard of Gogol Bordello? I love their song "Start Wearing Purple". Both the song and the lead singer were featured throughout the movie "Everything Is Illuminated" with Elijah Wood... Apparently it's Gypsy/Punk music (which caused a strong negative reaction from my Romanian gilrfriend, which in turn, prompted me to download it as a ringtone ). It's a really up-beat song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_81l4DXlwM

Blue Man Group's The Complex. Unique and unconventional sound. My brother's seen the live show in Chicago. Heard they're getting a new album together, too. Quite interested.

"Lullaby" by the Cure. Love that image of the spider coming to "have me for dinner tonight"...though it freaks me out at the same time....
Despina, do you mean David Draiman's "Forsaken"? If so, I LOVE that song. I got the Queen of the Damned soundtrack just for that.

The soundtrack to the movie "Raging Bull" Scorcese selected pieces of opera from the Cavelleri (sic) Rusticana as well as a mix of swing and Big band cuts by Ella Fitzgerald, Gene Krupa, Harry James and 1940's Frank Sinatra.

After 6 pages or so, no one has pointed out my future wife (it's nice to dream sometimes), Nancy Agram. And yes, she can definitely sing as well.

Various stuff - Modest Mouse, Nina Simone, mix tape with salsa, David Bowie & The English Beat, but I'm really really liking a 2006 cd by a Denton TX group called Midlake (cd is Tales of Van Ocupanther). Anyone familiar with them? This is like the best of the 70's concept albums, just updated.

Talking about 70's concept albums, does anyone care to admit they remember or listened to Jeff Wayne's rock version of War of the Worlds? You either loved it or hated it.

The music is definately Arabesque. If I were to guess why, I would say it's either because she likes it or it's because of the Ottoman empire which itself was an amalgam of Arab/Persian influences. Musically speaking.
