Drottnar - Axiom
https://open.spotify.com/track/5AmDGSrDOzil8sLQVE1uQf?si=e-0Qaq3yRneiLP_oX4a6dg

I didn't know Drottnar was still alive. It's been years since I've heard of them. Thank you Spotify for bringing this to my attention. Apparently they've decided to turn from being a Mayhem clone for being something else. Still quite progressive but with a lot more groove this time. Sound pretty good.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Epica, just bought tickets for their show in March.
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

Anyhow when God was asked he said Eastern Orthodox is true Church and not Catholic Church. So come home and enjoy.

Coheed and Cambria - Justice In Murder

I'm not a huge fan of their running storyline, feels kind of pretentious to me though I doubt I could really do better so I might just be jealous, but I do like C&C as just music. "Welcome Home" is probably still my favorite track of theirs but that might be just because I imprinted on it via the old trailer for the movie 9. "Mother Superior" is another favorite.

Gauche as it might be to say, I also really like "A Favor House Atlantic."

Killswitch Engage's Holy Diver cover.

They're no Ronnie James Dio, but then again who is? Not a huge fan of the gutteral scream, but it does kind of work off the video to give a sense that this is a bit of a playful parody of Dio's style.

Now I feel like listening to the original and Rainbow in the Dark.

My son and I have a running contest of who will give the other the most earworms. So far he seems to be winning.

Brainstorm, Liquid Monster

My favourite highlights are 'Worlds Are Comin' Through', 'Heavenly' and 'Painside', but there's really not a duff track on it.

Sabaton, Carolus Rex. Another bilingual album that I like better in the native language (Swedish, in this case) than in English.

A friend pointed me towards the music of Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou, a nonagenarian Ethiopian nun who composes and performs on the piano, combining jazz, classical and Orthodox chant elements. Mind. Blown.

Sample

But really, anything of hers I've found to listen to is a wonder.

"Antigravity," Valgeir Sigurdsson
My only weakness is, well, never mind

Come back my dream into my arms, into my arms

London is drowning, and I live by the river

A friend pointed me towards the music of Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou, a nonagenarian Ethiopian nun who composes and performs on the piano, combining jazz, classical and Orthodox chant elements. Mind. Blown.

Sample

But really, anything of hers I've found to listen to is a wonder.

Nice. What would you say are the Orthodox chant elements?

Only vaguely acquainted with Ethiopian chant modes, so I can't really pick out this or that point, but I can imagine a lot of the track linked above working well as a vocal line. You can hear more like that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2PJHhaRv8k&t=255s

Yeah, I can definitely hear it in that second track, at least.
