Loreena McKennitt- Book of Secrets

Pretty schlocky, but I have a soft spot for it.

Just found the Agni Parthene in Portuguese! These really made my day, I had no idea it existed! Our own Fábio Leite seems to have translated it. Also, please pray for Márcio, who was involved in the video but is far from the Church now.

Ó Virgem Pura, Rainha
Imaculada, Theotokos
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Mãe Virgem e Rainha
Mant'Orvalhado cobre-nos
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó Altíssima, mais que os céus
Ó Luminosa, mais que o sol
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Deleite dos santos virginais
Maior que os celestiais
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó luz dos céus mais brilhante
Pura e radiante
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Mais santa e angelical
Ó santo altar celestial
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Maria Sempre Virgem
Senhora da Criação
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó Imaculada Esposa Virgem
Ó Pura Senhora
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Maria, Esposa, Rainha
Fonte da Alegria
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Venerável Virgem, Donzela
Mãe Santa e Rainha
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Mais venerável que'os Querubins
Mais gloriosa que'os Serafins
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

És mais alta em plena glória
Que as hostes incorpóreas
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó, hino dos arcanjos
Ó, musa dos anjos
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó, canto dos Querubins
Ó, canto dos Serafins
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó paz e alegria
Ó porto da salvação
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Morada do Verbo do Pai
Fragrância da Incorrupção
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó Deleite do Paraíso
Ó Vida Imortal
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó Árvore da Vida
Raiz da Imortalidade
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Imploro-te, ó Rainha
Eu te suplico
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Peço-te ó Rainha
Imploro a tua benção
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Ó venerável Virgem
Pura, Nossa Senhora
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Com fervor eu te suplico
Ó Templo Sagrado
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Percebe-me, Ajuda-me
Livra-me do Mal
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Intercede por mim
Que eu tenha a Vida Eterna
Virgem Mãe, Alegra-te!

Late last night I got a sudden yen to listen to Morian again. It still hasn't subsided, with about two rotations of Sentinels of the Sun for each one of Ashen Empire.

If I'm not mistaken, Marcio (that used to be a member of oc.net) had on his YT channel the recoridng of the Agni Partherne in Poruguese, with piano accommpaniament. I noticed quiet a logn time ago that Marcio had left the Orthodox Church and it seems he's a now a kind of Protestant.

I am listening to the bassline of the Dire Straits song 'Sultans of Swing,' which is coming out of a radio in the apartment above me. Good tune, wish I could hear the guitar as well.

After the show two weeks ago, I've been re-listening to all of Alcest's back catalog, and I read some interviews. I find it fairly incredible that Neige had never heard of shoegaze until after he did this album, when he read all the reviews calling his music shoegaze black metal. Of course once he found out about it he started listening obsessively to Slowdive and even got Neil Halstead to collaborate on Shelter.

Saw them live with God is an Astronaut back in 2014, it was unbelievable, both bands really rocked it and Neige talked with the fans uncerimoniously after the show. I didn't know Neige didn't know shoegaze, it's indeed amazing, and nowadays it's the only extreme genre I can swallow easily.

I didn't know he was part of the forum once. ISTM the Anglican Church here is a harbour for people who couldn't cope with the discipline of more serious churches.

I like it more than the first two singles released... kinda trippy. And listening to 'Sultan's Curse' again, I guess it could grow on me; reminds me of Crack the Skye.

Discovered them recently:
Stelios Petrakis' Cretan Quartet
