Any Duran Duran fans? They have a new single out, featuring Janelle Monáe and Nile Rodgers.

It is long past time for them to retire.

ASMRaurette - Stuff On My Desk

Obviously it's hard to tell much about a person with certainty from only videos, and ASMR vids in particular, but since I first saw her reuploaded videos I've thought she seemed like one of the brightest people around (bright = kind + intelligent + optimistic/inspiring). I guess I'm content enough thinking it, even though I'll never be able to confirm it.

Pray to God-Calvin Harris feat HAIM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FOBxcluXdk

While the song's good, the MV doesn't live up to the standard of the song tbh. The song seems to be about suffering and doubt(which ironically is emphasized through the "pray to God" part of the lyrics). Overall, the song details how the person tries to confront his/her suffering which is probably a breakup given how the singer thought that it is supposed to be "the end of a love that makes you strong" at the beginning of the song. The song from this point details how the singer copes with the breakup by not giving into her ex. Towards the end, it is implied that the singer gave up and gave in while telling her ex how she accepted him merely out of desire as to not show weakness(hence "heat of the moment"). Yet, she still couldn't get over it thus giving in. The song could convey different messages for all I know but this is what I got from it.

Red Velvet-Ice Cream Cake
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtRoyuxOzzs

Like Harris' Pray to God, Ice Cream Cake is a good song but it's MV does not live up to the standard of the song. However live performances and dance moves do make the girls look like hyperactive children at times. Overall the song seems to detail a girl trying to woo her love with "ice cream cake"(allegory for lipstick and kissing). The song is also quite disturbing since the creepy "lalalala" that will be resonated across the song implies that the girl have psychotic tendencies and seeks her love in a way a psychopathic murderer would seek his prey. At one point in the song it is probably allegorically rapped about how the girl is drooling all over her mouth(disguised by rapping about how the ice cream is melting in her mouth that even her own mouth is melting down) presumably after looking at the object of her love.

It was a bit to weird to hear a Russian-language version of this at a taxi in Gazbegi. I wonder which one is the original.

Tragically, their lead singer was killed in the Lafayette movie theater shooting the other day. RIP.

Spotify has a new Discover Weekly playlist that offers up new stuff based on things you've listened to in the past week. It's pretty good.

Also been listening to Ancient Faith Radio a bit more. Some good chant there. I really need to update my chant collection.

Mix of kafana type music

It's Serbian music for dancing, drinking and singing at kafana - specific type of restaurant/pub, howver it's also played at e.g weddings
Pray for persecuted Christians, especially in Serbian Kosovo and Raška, Egypt and Syria
