Lately I've really gotten into 2 bands - Nightwish (symphonic metal) and A Studio ( a Russian band ). We have a 16 month old who loves to listen to both these bands - when they are on he bops and wiggles, now even trying to sing along.

These were random finds on You Tube a few months ago!!!

Nightwish's Dark Passion Play came out when I was pregnant, and let's just say my son got to listen to it a lot before he even popped out. ;D He still gets all pensive whenever 'The Poet And The Pendulum' comes on. ;)

I've been on a major Ellie Goulding hook lately. I love her voice (even if it is digitally enhanced) and she makes me feel good.

Not much liking this new album, though after I'd heard the single they released last year I figured that might be the case.

Tibetan singing bowls.

pluses: no beats, rhythms, etc

minuses: like wind chimes, the melodies do not stick in your head such that you can whistle them later and the tones are way too long for whistling any way (maybe a professional whistler can do it).

Enigma, A Posteriori

My favourite Enigma album, most of the time (unless I feel the need to revisit MCMXC a.D.). There's something stark, even foreboding, about it that never fails to draw me in.

@Gebre Menfus Kidus

Are you a PM Dawn fan? If not you are about to be. As much as I'm down with hardcore and gangsta rap, ultimately I am a sap and PM Dawn fills in that sappy-less rap void perfectly.

Their first two albums are classics: Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience  & The Bliss Album...? (Vibrations of Love and Anger and the Ponderance of Life and Existence)

The group's later albums are still pretty good, although it veers more into urban R&B territory.

P.M. Dawn - "Looking Through Patient Eyes"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPPvA3buNLU

DJ Minutemix rocking the single cross earring like George Michael (who PM Dawn sampled his "Father Figure") during his Faith years is a brilliant reference. Oh and Prince Be looks like a goof in this video, but lyrically the whole thing is on point.

P.M. Dawn - Sometimes I Miss You So Much (Dedicated To The Christ Consciousness)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4ZjIVS_Big
Another great track and sample. Really what other rap group/rapper can pull off sampling the likes of Spandau Ballet, George Michael, Al B Sure!, even covering the Beatles Norwegian Wood?

As much as I love the Unibrow's "Night and Day" (and the hilarious video that accompanies it), its sort of ruined cause I'm always expecting Prince Be to enter at any moment and go on about "The Christ is me, the Christ is you". It's like the T.S. Monk "Bon Bon Vie" song that Public Enemy sampled to open "Welcome to the Terrordome" cause I'm anticipating a bomb exploding followed by a Temptations track with Chuck giving me a ticket into his mind. There's a lot of hip hop songs that make the original source even better, sometimes just listenable.

Let me know what you think.
"The business of the Christian is nothing else than to be ever preparing for death (μελεπᾷν ἀποθνήσκειν)."

— Saint Irenaeus of Lyons, Fragment XI

Modernist thinking and being consists of nothing but uncritical acceptance.

Very far from their glory days of the 80s, but still very much worth the listen.

I got to listen to a few recently released songs so here they are,

Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You: The title describes the song itself but it's something that is of the same quality as Call Me Maybe and Good Time so it gets a huge plus

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77PzXCKDyVQ

Lovelyz(러블리즈) 'Hi~ (안녕)': Nothing much to do with "Hi"(It's in the lyrics), Typical cutesy girl likes boy and confesses song with a twist, the MV(At least to me) gives subtle signs that the girl is rejected. The smiley face teared up, the firecracker failed to go off and HD detail of bubbles bursting at the end. If those are not symbolisms of rejection, i dunno what is.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H85SIUCY_I

Lovelyz - Amusement Park (놀이공원): Pretty much the best song I ever listened to this year, it's cute, happy but ultimately it's miserable and sad underlying all the gleefulness. Girl reminisces about a date with her ex at an amusement park in a lucid dream. She doesn't want the dream to end, eventhough she knows it's nothing more than that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XinNmhdOWck
My Lord, My Lord, give my worthless soul the illumination of Wisdom in your mercy
