Cool Smiley I came upon them because they're included in a list of "2014 Metal" by Phillip Patton on Spotify...

Was the new Atlas Moth on that list? If not, check it out. I really liked their last album (and not just for its.. uh.. intriguing album art) and this is an improvement to an already great sound as far as I'm concerned.

Their faith background is kind of interesting too. None of them are Christian, but the two main song writers are best friends -- an atheist who lost faith and a spiritual seeker. Also, this most recent album they named after the Russian Old Believers. Check out this interview, if you're interested.

Rush 2112

Turned off the lights, lit some incense, and listened to this one all the way through. Really takes me back to my high school days. Never gets old. Take 45 minutes out of your life and listen to this album from beginning to end.

The title makes one think of one of Schubert's other works.

I did not click your link until now. On my way home from work, I was thinking of both pieces. I think the similarity extends to the music. They were both in my mind because I wrote about Erlkönig three weeks ago.

I think Arachne's husband doesn't care for DFD (and I prefer Fritz Wunderlich myself).

He doesn't care for lieder in general Smiley I do like DFD, although my favourite Winterreise by a mile features Brigitte Fassbaender accompanied by Aribert Reimann.

Mesfin Abebe "Befikrish Teyzo"

Even though it sounds like it was recorded on someone's answering machine, I'm loving the interplay between the guitar lines and Mesfin's voice here. He's got some real charm (though for all I know he could be singing about ice cream or something; wait...no...that would make it better). Wish the CD retrospective of his material that Nahom Records in DC did was still available, but their webstore seems to have disappeared since I last ordered from them about 4 years ago. Shame.
