Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

Watched the music video too, I like it...matches the lyrics well.

For some reason this song reminds me of the days I played Goldeneye 007

Another one of the songs I can tear through.

And people think I am being ironic.

And I don't care what songmeanings has to say. It is about heroin.

Now that is interesting.

Genie In A Bottle's 6th hidden meaning is about heroin too lol.

This is a truly magnificent work - I've never heard anything quite like it. Unfortunately, the subtitles are missing on youtube...

Drake - Hold On, We're Going Home

Gorgeous production with a nice melody. No auto-tune either, I like when he sings.

Drake took my schtick and made millions with it.

Black Eyed Peas – Where is the Love?

Overseas ya we tryin to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin
In the U.S.A, the big C.I.A
The bloods and the crips, and the KKK
But if you only got love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate, then you're bound to get irate
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man ya gotta have love, this'll set us straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate, to the love ya'll

People killin
People dyin
Children hurt and
You hear 'em cryin
Will you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father father father, help us
Need some guidance from above
These people got me got me questionin
Where is the love?

Thomas Mapfumo "Shumba"

Famous Zimbabwean artist. When I lived in Oregon a few years ago there was a sizable Zimbabwean community in town, including apparently Thomas Mapfumo and his family. I never met the man in person, but there were several local bands of this type playing music very similar to what you hear at the clip, but with traditional mbira thumb pianos in place of the interlocking guitars. It is pretty surprising how intense half a dozen thumb pianos and a few drums can be in a live setting, if you're used to big rock guitars with Marshall half-stack amps or whatever. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I prefer the thumb pianos.

I love Madonna. I hope she never dies. 80s period of course is my favorite, but some of her 90s and early 00s stuff is really great. Erotica is probably my favorite of hers.

Also did some TLC listening.

You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in colour
And do the things I want

You think you got the best of me
Think you've had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, because you're dead wrong

So I just played Immaculate Collection tonight (brilliant album title btw), and nope wrong. Open Your Heart is still an instant classic. Papa Don't Preach too. I listen to Cherish for pure nostalgia. I remember my mother playing this album quite frequently in my youth.

Frankly I am not that big of a fan to defend her.

Now my cultic obsession with Prince (or was since I know longer listen as much), is different. Had to defend him and his music so many times. However his new output is complete crap. Once he went Jehovah Witness the quality went downhill sharply, cept 3121 wasn't bad.

But anybody who denies Madonna made great music in the 80s is a complete idiot and cannot be trusted when it comes to music taste.

It is nonsense to feel guilty over feeling pleasure from pop music. What cause liking the Backstreet Boys is queer? I Want It That Way is a great song, and so are a few others they did.

Better than that corporate blowup doll named Mariah Carey or Katy Perry. The later is really cut from the same cloth.

I certainly didn't.

I can't really say. I haven't seen all that much of his stuff either.

But I did watch the pilot episode of his show White Collar and he seemed as straight as an arrow.

I don't understand the gaydar that some people seem to have. I have a colleague that is both gay and vegan and I wouldn't have guessed either until it came up on some point. But then again I've never understood most of the heterosexual things either.

I am deeply offended.  Not all of us gay people have such godawful taste in music as Shiny does.

That's one of the major issues that is wrong with the World today. How are we supposed to know who's gay and who's normal if you people start look and sound like a decent Protestant White people?

Would you have pegged Matt Bomer as being gay, if you didn't know otherwise?

I certainly didn't.

Actually, I did the first time I ever show him on TV
I know a secret about a former Supreme Court Justice.  Can you guess what it is?

The greatest tragedy in the world is when a cigarette ends.

When I get tense or anxious, like I am right now, the only thing that calms me down is a Louis:

Louis Armstrong
Louis Prima
Lou Monte

And I've got them blaring in my ears right now.
Some of my questions might appear patently stupid to those well-versed in Orthodoxy, but I'm brand new, having no background in the faith.  Please grant me a great deal of patience and consideration as I learn the basics.
