Naturtöniger Kultgesang – Die 8 Kirchentonarten (Orthodox Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Buchhagen, Germany)

Never knew exactly how our Church tones relate to the Ancient Greek ones. Apparently:

Tone 1 - Doric
Tone 2 - Lydian
Tone 3 - Ionian
Tone 4 - Phrygian plagal

Tone 1 plagal - Aeolian
Tone 2 plagal - Karian
Tone 3 plagal (barys) - Mixolydian
Tone 4 plagal - Phrygian

Mr. Lonely by Bobby Vinton, makes me tear up every time.

*WARNING: EXTREMELY EXPLICIT*

I Wanna ... You by Akon and Snoop Dogg, always makes me cry and think of my first girlfriend who's leaving for Colorado next year.

Listening to this for the third time. That part around 5:12 to 5:27 is better than everything good Metallica has done put together.

Apparently the original lyrics in western Massachusetts style:

Amazing Grace Tim Eriksen

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be forever mine.

Moonspell - Night Eternal

One of their best works, but mostly due to the two bonus tracks not included here, 'Earth Of Mine' and 'Unhearted'.

I think I have decided the Animals is my favorite Pink Floyd album with Wish a very close second.

I kind of fell out with PF when I became heavily enamored with punk. For me punk was the necessary reaction out of the pretentious arena dinosaur rock that PF was emblematic of.

However, Waters' venom spitting (no pun intended, if you are a PF fan you'd get the joke) on the later albums is something I have identified with.

PF had brilliant musicianship. But they were too dark for me. Their music seemed soulless -even though David Gilmore was such a Blues oriented guitarist, and I loved some of his solos. But their music never sat well with my spirit, even long before I was a Christian. But others may perceive them in a totally different light. That's the cool thing about art. We all like what we like for the reasons we like.

Oh I definitely see the criticism of them having no soul. The only album that sort of had soul is Wish but that's because it was more of a tribute to Syd Barrett.

There was a dark period in my life where The Wall spoke to me on a deeper level, but it is so bitter I cant listen to it anymore.

Bob Ezrin had a brilliant production on that album.
