Les Miserables - Do You Hear the People Sing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to1PCOpLcYU

I recently saw the musical in theatre (this recording is from an older performance) and was very impressed.

Note : Many of my posts (especially the ones antedating late 2012) do not reflect charity, tact, or even views I presently hold. Please forgive me for any antagonism I have caused.

François Couperin, "Les chérubins, ou L'aimable Lazure."

I try not to do the ornaments too tightly, as they then become percussive and after a while you feel nervous instead of relaxed.

Also his "Soeur Monique," "Le turbulent," and "L'himen-amour."

Anonymous 4 and the King's Singers rock the house.

Brand new earworm:

Bellowhead - Roll The Woodpile Down

Heard it in the car this afternoon and it was so catchy that I had to track it down. The version on the clip is obviously off the album (Broadside); the single version will be officially released in February, and it's even more foot-stomping!

Do a Google search with "youtube to mp3". There are various pages that convert YT clips to mp3's online. You copy the YT address, paste it there and download the mp3.

I used to use iLivid, but the last time I tried to use it it didn't seem to be working. Besides, I always had to go through an additional step of opening a separate program to convert to mp3. There must be better options out there...

If you use Firefox, there are several add-ons that allow you to download from YouTube.

Alternatively, you can convert to mp3 directly from YouTube with this.

Thanks very much.  I got it to download through the Firefox add-on, and it is playing on the media player, but I can't seem to find it to put it on the mp3.  I may have to do this when I'm not so slammed with work.

Got it.  I figured it would go straight to the media player, but I eventually thought to look in downloads, and it was toward the end of a huge pile of stuff.  Thanks, I've wanted to put that song on my mp3 player for a long time.    :)

Weird. Never would have guessed it! I was gonna guess Carlos Alomar. But then I looked it up, and it turns out I was thinking of Iggy's version:

Gotta say, I still prefer this version. Much more sinister-sounding. Sure is interesting to compare the two!

John Tavener - Funeral Canticle (Full Version)

Reminds me (among other things) why Naxos is my favourite classical record label.

David Bowie: "Little China Girl"  (Bet you can't guess who played guitar on this song. Huge props to anyone who knows without having to look it up. Be honest!)   :)

Well, since nobody guessed I'll go ahead and tell you. Stevie Ray Vaughan played on this song, and played on most of the tracks on Davie Bowie's album "Let's Dance."

Seriously? Sigh. That's ...  . . .   really?  :o

Weird. Never would have guessed it! I was gonna guess Carlos Alomar. But then I looked it up, and it turns out I was thinking of Iggy's version:

Gotta say, I still prefer this version. Much more sinister-sounding. Sure is interesting to compare the two!

Stevie did some great work on this. I'm not a huge David Bowie fan, but I dig a lot of his stuff. Very funky and very tight. A surprising collaboration, but it worked!

I'm listening to Return of the Living Dead in French.  ??? ;D  It's funny how sometimes the voice actors totally get the tone/implications of what is being said wrong. Like in one scene a girl says sarcastically "oh let's do that," but in the French version she sounds approving and eager at the idea rather than sarcastic.
