The annual www.AllClassical.org countdown (by vote of the listeners). 1. Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 - "Choral" 2. Handel: Messiah 3. Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 - "From the New World" 4. Barber: Adagio for Strings 5. Mozart: Requiem in D minor (K. 626) (Quite fittingly, Mozart died before he could complete this work--Franz Xaver Süssmayr was commissioned to finish it for him.) 6. J. S. Bach: Brandenburg Concertos 7. Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2 8. J. S. Bach: Mass in B minor 9. Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 - "Pastoral"10. Copland: Appalachian Spring11. Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis12. J. S. Bach: Goldberg Variations13. Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 (The first major symphony to use my primary instrument: the trombone) 14. Vivaldi: The Four Seasons15. Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 3

And it all ended right at midnight. Someone forced you to listen to hours of classical music? How horrid! How did you ever stay awake the whole time?

And it all ended right at midnight. Someone forced you to listen to hours of classical music? How horrid! How did you ever stay awake the whole time? What can I say? Classical music is my first love when it comes to music. I actually spent all evening working on a personal software engineering project while I listened to the music. Yeah, very geeky way to spend New Year's Eve, but I felt a bit of a cold coming on, so I didn't want to risk spreading it via a major social event. Now it's time to put down a big Dead Guy Ale. There's one good thing about drinking at home: I don't have to think about driving home afterward.

Thanks for the link, ImperfectRose. My favorite song by her is probably Independence Day. On a side note, I once saw Martina McBride at a county fair, and for some reason or other some guy got to go up on stage, and he wouldn't leave the stage because he wanted to kiss her cheek. Finally security made him leave. I felt so embarrassed for the way he represented the people from my area.

I listened to some of the other songs on the VEVO channel, and remembered one of the reasons I didn't like them... the whiny singing of the guitar player (e.g. in Hypnotize). And I'm a guy that likes Dave Mustaine and Ozzy Osbourne, so when I don't like a singer with a nasally whiny style, that's saying something Some of the other stuff though I admit that I enjoyed, especially the vocal bit of Chop Suey that goes something along the lines of "Father into your hands I commend my spirit... etc.".

Here I am playing some very simple guitar in my study. Very basic stuff; I'm not very good. I recorded this with my digital camera, so the quality is poor. I'm really posting this so that I can get some suggestions and help as to how to improve the sound of recording. Is there some type of microphone that plugs into a digital camera? I'm really ignorant about this stuff. Thanks for any help and advice you can give me- on how to record better quality sound or how to improve my guitar playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI17I47cDXISelam

Krystal Meyers - The Way To Begin Krystal is a wonderful Christian singer. I really recommend her self-titled album "Krystal Meyers" to my fellow teenagers, or any parents who want to give their child a CD that they will enjoy while still keeping it Christian-based. Her album is available here for only $15 + shipping- http://www.amazon.com/Krystal-Meyers/dp/B0009I7O8E/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1294878243&sr=1-3

The song they were playing at the time was Hey Soul Sister by Train. I only know that because I just now googled the stuff they kept repeating: "Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay-ay-ay" etc. Once I turned on my TV it mostly drown out the sound, so it wasn't as difficult as I thought it'd be catching a couple hours of sleep.

It sounds good to me! :-) As for the recording, I am sure others can give better, more technical advice, but, I would suggest simply investing in a good digital recorder. I bought a Sony (I purchased it when I became the church secretary, and wanted to record the meetings so I would get the meeting minutes correct) and I have recorded a number of Divine Liturgies with the tiny recorder lying on the tetrapod behind the icon. The playback quality is great! In fact, at this moment (until I paused it to listen to you and your guitar) I was listening to the recording of the Vespers from the Sobor I attended in NJ a few months back. It's like being in church.
