Lady makemewanna-Gag-a Just voicing my opinion. I don't like Lady Gaga. I understand. I just get a little frustrated when people insult her. Why? Is she that important to you? Certainly not in a religious way, as I would be frustrated if someone insulted Jesus Christ. I'm just amazed by her because I think she has a lot of talent. Really? Where? Just watch some of her acoustic (loosely speaking as she may be using an electronic piano) performances. They make it clear that it's not simply the backup that makes her sound good.

Lady makemewanna-Gag-a The best way to make this contrived faux-avant-garde corporate bilge go away is to deprive it of the attention the record companies so desperately want for it. What are you talking about? She's one of the few pop artists on the scene today who actually writes the majority of her own music. Have you heard her "music"? I'm sure I've spent more than 5 hours in the past month listening to her music, so yes.

Malcolm Bilson and John Eliot Gardiner w/ the English Baroque Soloists: Mozart--The Complete Piano Concertos.
I think this whole collection answers the age old question--is there such a thing as too much piano music? Not with this 9 disc recording. Well worth the time to listen and to read the great introductory essays.

Metallica - Sanitarium
On a completely unrelated note, how did a band with lyrics as incoherent as Mastodon manage to get so many cool lines into their songs? Just from the song Blood and Thunder alone:
"This ivory leg is what propels me..."
"What remorseless emperor commands me? I no longer govern my soul..."
"Break your backs and crack your oars men, if you wish to prevail..."

It is a good lyric, especially for a metal band (one reason I prefer death metal and black metal is that you can't hear the terrible lyrics). Too bad the music is so dull.

We (Presvytera and I) think we struck gold with the "Rockabye Baby!" series of lullaby-ized rock albums, including U2, Coldplay, AC/DC, Metallica, etc. No lyrics - just rockin' lullabies. http://www.squidoo.com/rock-lullabies - Part of the way down the page they have an embedded vid clip with their rendition of "Enter Sandman," just to give you a taste of what they do.
