Please pray for my Grandfather. He has been operated on for cancer last year and declared cancer free. His blood, however, showed something suspicious and he is going tomorrow for some tests to determine if the cancer has returned. Thanks to anyone and every one who prays for him.

My Grandmother let me know that my Grandfather came home after the tests with no word as to the results as yet. His regular physician is going to look at the results and then let him know something. Thanks for your prayers and please continue to pray for him.

The doctor informed my grandparents today that the cancer has spread to my Grandfather's liver. Your continued prayers would be greatly appreciated. Is there a "special" saint to whom prayers for cancer victims can be addressed?

St. Nektarios, whom Starlight has already beseeched for your grandfatehr's behalf, is an excellent saint in times like these: "O faithful, let us honor Nektarios, divine servant of Christ, offspring of Silivria and guardian of Aegina, who in these latter years was manifested as the true friend of virtue. All manner of healing wells forth for those who in piety cry out, "Glory to Christ who glorified you; glory to Him who, through you, wrought wonders; glory to Him who, through you, works healing for all." http://www.goarch.org/en/chapel/saints.asp?contentid=283

Probably the last thing you need right now is a story, but I am going to tell this one anyway.
We have a friend of the family whose neighbor was diagnosed with liver cancer. When they took a scan they could actually see two spots, which were the cancer. After treatment with chemotherapy (which was very rough,) they did another scan and the neighbor said the spots were no longer visible. It is amazing what they can do to treat cancer now.
May God guide your grandfather's doctors, so they will know how to treat him effectively and may God give your grandfather the strength to deal with the treatments. Your grandfather is lucky to have you and the rest of your family to help him and support him during this time.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and words of encouragement.
Today we found out that my Grandfather has been given four months to live. The doctor said that he could live maybe 7 months if he decided to take chemotherapy. He has chosen not to do so because of the problems the chemo would cause. I am glad he made that decision instead of asking my Grandmother or the family to make it for him.
Although he is 80 years old, it still seems way too early to lose him. May the will of the Lord be done.
We need your continued intercessions as well as those of the Blessed Theotokos and St. Nektarios.

Thru the intercessions of the Holy Theotokos, may God grant your petition... Lord have Mercy!

Today's news has not been good: My Grandfather no longer recognizes my Grandmother. All indications are that he will not be with us much longer. Please pray for my Grandmother who is losing her spouse of 61 years. Pray that my Grandfather may be forgiven all his sins and be granted rest among the servants of Christ our God.

I just sent up a prayer. 61 years? Wow. It sounds like he's had a good, long life.
