Weeping icon of Theotokos in Kosovo
« on: June 18, 2007, 10:28:10 PM »
I saw this on Serbianna and thought others might like to see it.  I cannot find much information on it though.

The only information I can find on it is on Serbianna and the photographers said (which both have the same information).

Quote
Photo by a Swiss photographer Jacqueline Haener.  She is currently leading a a photography workshop project with the children in Orahovac and Velika Hoca, two of the last Serbian enclaves in Metohija, Southern Kosovo. "The enclaves are highly endangered and suffer from a quasi-total isolation since '98," says Haener. "They went through hell and still, its habitants (about 1200 souls) courageously decided to stay no matter what. Both enclaves are guarded by KFOR troops. The project is financed by European Cultural Fond, supported by the Coordination Center for Kosovo and Metohija and mothered by Art Link foundation in Belgrade."

Is something very bad about to happen?
The sins I don't commit are largely due to the weakness of my limbs.

Well, this was back in June, so probably nothing IMPENDING. But one must always take care when there is a weeping Icon, especially with such world affairs such as Putin dissolving the Russian government and Bush's hints at an invasion of Iran (to other posters, this is not meant as a political discussion beginner).

There was, however, a more recent occurance of this:

The New York times reported today the at the United States is strongly hinting at recognizing Kosovo as an independent state. If this occures it would strain Serbia's relations with the west and stall any future joining with the EU.

Seems like it eh?  I just read an article saying Albanians are not willing to back down from their belief in the complete independence of Kosovo.

That's like any country in the Balkans believing in their true nation, aka "Greater Serbia" and such ideologies.

"Kosovo Independence Off the Table"

http://news.independent.co.uk/europe/article2973548.ece

I hope everyone understands that Kosovo will not be granted legal independence, but a province that is of 90% independence seekers, will do it unilaterally/illegaly. The million dollar question is how Serbia will respond, with diplomatic means or military means.

Italia irredenta still exists too.  :P

I'm from Zadar (Zara), many of us actually wish we stayed a part of Italy and not Croatia  ;D

Seriously though, I get the impression that recently there have been more weeping icons than usual, something could be about to happen.  ???

The US' stance will be interesting to watch as well.

Sorry Friul, I hate to be the devils advocate (lol) but I thinking that we hear about weeping icons more now because the media sensationalizes miracles.
