Greek/Russian Lectionary Differences -- Which Days?

Howdy,

Is there anything online that shows when the Greek and Russian lectionaries differ throughout the year?

I know this may be a loaded or complicated question due to Old Calendar/New Calendar Greek, OC/NC Russian, but I'm just looking for a way to compare the two.

Also...whence the difference in the first place, anyways?

I'm not sure of an online version of the Old Calendar and the readings. 

However, the best place for you to start is to pick up an Old Calander for 2007 and a New Calendar for 2007 and start comparing. 

If there's a Serbian church near you I would recomend that, because the calendars they put out are VERY informational.  And then just put it up against a GOA calendar.  I've found that excersize to be extremely helpful to put a grasp on this whole question.

Well, to complicate the question, do you mean Greek New Calendar and Russian Old Calendar or do you mean Greek New Calendar and Russian (normally OCA) new calender. The reason I ask is because there is a difference between both groups.

Right...I guess just to start out comparing apples to apples, GOA (New Calendar) to OCA (New Calendar).

Not a bad idea.  Let me know if you find anything interesting. 

I would not be surprised, however, if they are more similar than different. 

The differences start when you get into Typika.  Not necessarily the Lectionary.

I know that there are probably more but the one that stands out the most is St. Katherine of Alexandria, her feast day is celebrated on 25 November in most Christian churches. However, her feast is celebrated on 24 November in the Russian Orthodox Church because Empress Catherine the Great did not wish to share her patronal feast with the Leavetaking of the feast of the Presentation of the Theotokos.

Also St. Raphael of Brooklyn is commemorated by the OCA on February 27, the anniversary of his death, and by the Antiochian Orthodox Church on the first Saturday of November.

Simple reason, February 27 is the anniversary of his repose, and many Antiochian parish celebrate this day. But because it falls during the Great Fast the local Bishops for the Antiochians decided that the first Saturday before St. Raphael's patronal feast day (The Synaxis of the Archangels, which was also the day he was baptized) would be a more appropriate day so that a festal celebration could be held.

The text for the two days are very different and among the opinion of many there is thanks that the OCA text fall during the fast and are thus omitted in favor of Triodian text because they are almost laughable at times. The Lectionary difference exist because the Antiochian text treat him as a Hierarch on the level of Ignatius, Spyridon and Nectarios while the OCA text puts him with missionaries saints.
