Sorry to be a bother, but I need to make fun of a secular Russian acquaintance.  What is 'Palm Sunday' in Russian?  Cyrilic and non please, as the other forum may not allow cyrilic.  Thanks!

serbs call it [tsvetna nedelja] thou they hand out weeping willow [zalosna verba] i assume  the russian would call it the same just a little different pronunciation....i could be wrong or not stashko

Dear Olga.. I thought that russia uses the word nedelja for sunday now ,instead of resurrection sunday..
i wish all the orthodox would use the word resurrection sunday for sundays..it keeps our minds on what the Lord did for us ....stashko[сташко]

That's true. In Ukrainian, Sunday is "нeділя" (pronounced "nedilya"). In Russian, a similar word, "нeдeля" (pronounced "nyedyelya"), means "week." In Ukrainian, "week" is "тиждeнь" ("tizhden'", with a soft "n" at the end).

Unlike Russians who trivialize the word "Resurrection" ("Воскрeсeниe") by calling it every first day of the week (KIDDING!!! KIDDING!!!), we Ukrainians reserve this term only to be applied to the unique event of Resurrection of our Lord.

I do realise that the original request was made some time ago, but the the "official" title of this feast, if you were to look it up in the Lenten Triodion (the volumes which contain the liturgical texts of the feasts of Great Lent), would be Вход Господень в Иерусалим (Vhod Gospoden' v Ierusalim), meaning Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.
