Our loyal and lead posters, Hypo-Ortho and Serge, have been competing head on for the position of Lead Poster.
As their post counts go higher and higher, and the distance to the big 1000 gets closer and closer, I am thinking up ways to provide incentive and reward to the Lead Poster.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, send me a PM!
Bobby

You make good points Paradosis.
It is one thing to have a discussion of theology over coffee, and another to actually live it. If we're not living a Christian life outside of the internet, then what we do on the internet will certainly not make a difference.
Nevertheless, a little friendly rivalry in my opinion isn't uncalled for. It certainly isn't out of hand and it's a little fun. Frankly, people don't want to post on a website that is drab and rigid. The Internet is a form of entertainment, and as such OC.net seeks to provide an outlet from the rigors of every day life and provide an apostolic christian backdrop for us to discuss issues related to faith, liturgy and current events.
OrthodoxChristianity.Net seeks to be a community forum, a fellowship, and even a brotherhood of sorts. We differentiate from places like Mo'Nachos that are more theology discussion based and more scholarly.
Of course, you are the first person to voice his opinion regarding our Patriarch model. If anyone else has any complaints, they can feel free to tack on to the end of this thread or PM me.

CHRIST IS RISEN! Hey, Bobby, I'm not really competing with Serge for the honors of Lead Poster. It is sheer coincidence (to my mind) that we are occasionally in a dead heat. Does this post count? Heh! Heh! :psychdelic:

Haven't you heard? The Patriarchate of OC.net rivals even that of Constantinople.

MY jurisdiction is clearly NOT vagante. But only one of us can be canonical, and I'm already a Pope. Hypo-Ortho

Are you going to give the first person over a thousand posts a new title?

Well, since our current model for poster titles is getting a bit long in the tooth(how many patriarchs we will soon have if it is a 500 post limit) I propose we redo the titles. Here is a rough outline of what I think is good... feel free to tamper with it.
1 post Newbie 10 posts Junior Member 25 posts Member 100 posts Senior Member 250 posts Community Leader 500 posts OC.net addict 1000 posts Patriarch(or maybe a non-ecclesiastical title)

I agree with you, David. I think 500 posts are too easy to achieve. Raising the bar to 1000 for "Patriarch" is certainly reasonable. I am willing to relinquish the title until I hit the 1000 mark.
How about "Matriarch" for women who achieve 1000+ posts?

(mumble off) What the heck is that supposed to mean? It's okay for men to post 10000000 posts but not ladies? I mean the key is agreement and cooperation--if a man or a woman is spending too much time on the internet it will affect the family! anastasios

I knew there was going to be at least one person who couldn't handle an old-fashioned smart-you-know-what remark made in jest.

OK, obviously you don't post here much because this board is full of humor and oftentimes thanks to our fellow admin Bobby it is not the politically correct kind! You have the ability to post emoticons like this to show us you're joking. We can't just look at plain text and always "get" what one actually means. But thank you for your clarification. anastasios
