Serena Williams is made of pure, unadulterated awesome, and so are her court outfits.

A blast from the past, 2016.

Quote
Serena Williams: Rising Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka is 'very dangerous'

MELBOURNE – When Naomi Osaka, an 18-year-old rising star in women’s tennis, won her final qualifying match on Saturday at the Australian Open, a swarm of Japanese fans followed her off the court.
...
Osaka is half black and half Japanese. She’s the daughter of a Japanese mother and Haitian father. When Naomi was three, her family moved to New York to be close to her dad’s family.
...
Her potential to continue climbing up the rankings is plain in her sturdy game, which can feel like Serena’s at time with the serve, forehand one-two punch.

“I have seen her play,” Serena told reporters on Monday. “She's really young and really aggressive. She's a really good, talented player. Very dangerous.”

Listened to the Steelers game on the radio today. Lulz. Pittsburgh never fails to play down to bad opponents. Kinda glad James Conner had a good game though. I don't hate Bell for holding out, but I do think he's insane to believe he's worth as much as he's asking.

LOL

Apparently there are refrigerators around Cleveland that will open if they win a game. So close!  :-\

Still better than the Bears record. Of course they just made Aaron Rogers mad by banging him up a bit.

If so, rather far-far cousin. This surname is popular among Serbs.

Big fight tomorrow: Conor McGregor vs the champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.  Saying it will be the biggest PPV in the UFC's history and is expected to draw more viewership than McGregor vs Mayweather.  I'll be watching; a true clash of styles.

ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!    ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!   ROLL TIDE!

Well, the season is more than halfway over. My CRIMSON TIDE is ROLLING right along. In two weeks we'll be truly tested against LSU in the Bayou. But I think this team is truly on another level.

I've seen many great college football players during my 50 years on earth: Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, Tim Tebow, Charlie Ward, Peyton Manning, Marcus DuPree, and Vince Young come to mind. But I've never seen anyone like TUA. I know I'm looking through my Crimson colored glasses, but this guy is the best pure college football player I've ever seen. If he can just stay injury free, he might win two more National Championships and two Heisman Trophies as well. He has all the skills, and he possesses the intangibles and character attributes to accompany his natural talent. He's confident but humble; he's team oriented; he's a natural leader, and he's a devout Christian.

Whether you love BAMA, hate BAMA, or are indifferent, take time to watch this young man play. He is beyond special. If TUA can stay healthy and humble, he may become the best football player to ever grace the collegiate turf. And those are big “ifs”. But I have confidence that he will overcome the hurdles of injuries and ego. I think it’s just in his nature to prevail, no matter what obstacles are thrown his way.

The Aubbies pulled out the cut blocks, the cheap shots, and the sandlot shenanigans, but BAMA made them pay 52-21. The Tide is headed to face UGA in the SEC Championship next week. I expect it to be a close game. Auburn was able to run the ball on us effectively, and UGA's backs are much better than Auburn's. But I think our offense will be too much for the Dawgs. Tua Tagovialoa most likely locked up the Heisman with another brilliant performance in the Iron Bowl. He's simply amazing.

Looks like another Alabama-Clemson matchup in the National Championship game.  They should go ahead and promote both schools to the NFL.  Put Alabama in the NFC South and Clemson in the AFC South (or the other way around, I don't care).

Clemson is legit. Should be another classic game between two great teams.

My CRIMSON TIDE is headed to a fourth straight National Championship game! BAMA prevailed 45-34 in a dominant performance over the Oklahoma Sooners. The game was really not as close as the final score indicated, with BAMA running away to an early 28-0 lead. OU was playing catch up the whole time, but to their credit they caught up enough to make BAMA sweat a bit in the fourth quarter.

Tua Tagovailoa was 24 of 27 passing, accounting for 318 yards and 4 touchdowns. Oklahoma QB and Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray passed for 308 yards, but only completed 19 of 37 passing attempts. But he also rushed for 109 yards, accounting for 417 of OU’s 471 total yards of offense.

I must say that Kyler Murray earned my respect. When it looked like BAMA was headed for a blowout, Murray kept Oklahoma in the game. He made some incredible plays with his arm and his legs against one of the best defenses in the nation. However, I think all objective viewers clearly saw who the best QB in the nation truly is. TUA proved that he indeed deserved the Heisman. No disrespect to Kyler Murray, but TUA was more accurate, more precise, and he controlled the game from start to finish. Kyler Murray played from desperation. TUA played with complete confidence and control.

The Heisman is not an MVP award; it’s supposed to be an award given to the best player in college football, period. And I would dare anyone to tell me they would actually draft Kyler Murray over Tua Tagovailoa as an NFL quarterback. Kyler Murray may have deserved an MVP award, but TUA undoubtedly deserved the Heisman.

But BAMA does not exist for winning Heisman Trophies; BAMA exists for winning National Championships. Football is a team sport, and the fact that the TIDE is headed to a fourth straight National Championship game tells you all you need to know.

Once again we will be facing a great Clemson team, coached by a former BAMA player and former BAMA assistant coach. We BAMA fans have great respect for Dabo Swinney and for the program he’s built at Clemson.  I expect another extremely close game that will go down to the wire.

Against Oklahoma we made some mental and fundamental mistakes that were quite uncharacteristic of a Nick Saban coached team. I think those errors were mostly due to the emotion BAMA had coming into the game, feeling personally slighted that TUA didn’t win the Heisman. The result was that we committed some dumb penalties and allowed ourselves to be goaded by OU’s trash talk and cheap shots. But I expect us to play a much more disciplined and fundamentally sound game against the Tigers in the National Championship.

But congrats to Oklahoma and Kyler Murray for not giving up and for challenging us to the very end. Most teams would have folded after being down 28-0 against mighty Alabama, but OU kept scrapping and fighting and was able to stay within striking distance. So they deserve credit for that.

Whatever happens next Monday night, it’s been an incredible season. I’m so proud of this team, especially our seniors. I continue to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. I’m so happy to be living through this historic Nick Saban era. It won’t go on forever, so I’m relishing every single moment of this amazing decade of dominance. And even if you hate Alabama, you should at least respect and admire the greatness you’re witnessing.

I love my Crimson Tide! Here’s hoping we can finish this undefeated season with another National Championship. It won’t be easy, but I know we’re up to the challenge.

ROLL TIDE!

Tua is looking human tonight: 2 picks including a pick 6.  Still a close game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo takes too many shots ... and misses a lot for a big man.

Disclaimer: I care about the Milwaukee Bucks only because Antetokounmpo is Greek.
