I don't think any OO jurisdiction does that.

This is not the apostolic tradition as kept by the OO communion.

The closest OO communions come to this is what I think is called 'tensuring' or something like that which is the sprinkling of the blood on the body which the communicant than takes as "one". But this is really body and blood together. The Syrian and Armenian communions (depending on where you are) practice this. I am told that it is more 'clean' from germs this way.

The Coptic , Indian and Ethiopian do not use 'tensuring'. But the body is taken than the blood than Holy water afterward.

eeeeh...it would make more sense if the excuse was there was one priest and a hundred families.  But the germ excuse kinda loses the purpose of faith in the Body and Blood of Christ.

God bless.

I am not sure that "germs" are the correct reason since I did not get this information form any bonifide Church doctrine or decision. I was told that this by a local parish priest in the Syrian communion. So it is reliable but not verified.

PS

HH Pope Shenouda was in New Jersey last week about 15 minutes from my house last week. I always feel that the whole state of New Jersey is blessed when he visits.

that's very true.  i used to get into arguments with my roman catholic mother-in-law (who is a nurse who also reads too many medical journals) about the spreading of germs and the use of the eucharistic spoon in my ruthenian catholic church.  appeals to faith usually do not work with most people.  faith can be weak, unfortunately, even in the healing power of the eucharist.  so while it is a lame excuse, it is also a very real one for many people.

I was told that HH was on his way to Texas for a consecration of a new Church parish. He often stops in Cedar Grove NJ to bless HE bishop David and the people here first when visiting the USA which is a blessing for us all.

The NY metro area is the oldest diocese for the Coptic and Ethiopian churches outisde either country.

May God bless our father HH Pope Shenouda and give him lenght of days of health to do his divine will and that he arrives home in safety and in peace. Amen

Indeed, the first Coptic Church in the US (I think all of North America) is St. Mary and St. Antonious in Ridgewood, Queens.  I had the blessing of going to that church many times during my undergrad, whose priests and congregation are one of the finest.
