In the 20th century, the Syrian Orthodox Christians of India schismed into two opposing factions, one which claims autocephalous status, and the other which remains loyal to the Patriarch of Antioch. Between these two groups, which one is recognized by the Oriental Orthodox communion as the  legitimate Church of India? I belong to to the former, and consider our claim of autocephalous status to be valid. On the other hand, I am uncertain as to whether other Oriental Orthodox Churches would agree to that claim.

Peace.

Thank you. May I ask, would you commune at an Indian Orthodox parish?

Peace.
