Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory for ever!

« on: November 26, 2006, 10:00:51 PM »

All,
Please remember in your prayers, my mother, Mary, who died early this evening.
For the past 3 years, she was slowly sinking into that nightmare known as Alzheimer's.  Early Thanksgiving morning she started with a stomach virus and the nausea and vomiting became so bad that she was hospitalized in the evening for fluid replacement due to severe dehydration.  She went into kidney failure and heart failure over the weekend.  Our parish priest came to see her on Saturday.  I visited her after liturgy this morning and we prayed together for the last time. I returned this evening to see her.  She died minutes before I got there.  The hospital staff allowed me to spend time alone with her and sing the Canon for the Departure of the Soul from the body.
The mind is a funny thing.  Her short term memory was gone and conversations had become virtually impossible but when I would bring her to liturgy she would sing the whole service, both the choir and the priest's parts, from memory, in English and Slavonic, all the while remaining on page one in the prayer book.
"Blessed is the way in which you shall walk today, O soul; for a place of rest is prepared for you."
May her memory be eternal, Vichnaja pamjat'!

Dear Carpatho Russian,
I am so sorry about your loss. My deepest condolences. May our Saviour grant the eternal blessing and salvation to your Mom, who was such a dedicated Christian. Your story shows the great strength of your Mom's faith. You and all your family are in my prayers also.

CR,

I am very sorry to learn of your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences!

Lord, please place Mary where there is no sighing, suffering, or sorrow; a place of light, of repose, and of refreshment!

CR,

I have lost quite a few people in my lifetime, but not a parent. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. Hang in there! May God give you strength! I'm sorry to hear of your loss and I pray that you, as well as your family, will be able to look upon your mother's life with a happy, loving, adoring smile.

God bless you!!! Memory eternal! May Mary find solace and comfort in the Lord.

May your mother's memory be eternal.

May God uphold you during this time.

God graciously took my mother almost 3 years ago (in Jan.) just before she slipped into the latter stages of Alzheimers. I know what it's like. You are in my prayers.

I am so sorry for the loss, but so happy that she isn't suffering anymore, such a painful death, May God bless her and have mercy on her and grant her a part in his kingdom.
God bless you and your family also and may he grant you healing and strength.
