Nov 20 is the day of chrismation
« on: November 14, 2006, 09:24:19 PM »
Hello everyone I am soon to be a former roman catholic, Nov 20 06 I will be chrismated in a small Greek Orthodox Church in Montana. I was baptized in the RC in 2002 not long after graduating high school. At first I was so happy to be catholic but slowly things did not seem quite right. I am speaking of the general heterodoxy of the modern church and the horrible liturgy. After about a year of some real liberal garbage I tried the other parishes in missoula and they all were as bad or worse. In late 2005 I began going to a society of saint pius the tenth church, but things still seemed a bit amiss. Then in college I took a course on Russian history after watching a video that contained a part of the divine liturgy I was breathless at the beauty of it all. I started looking into orthodoxy I read tons of books and started attending the goa church here. I began to realize that orthodoxy was what I had always been looking for true worship and true faith( I had always been a bit skeptical on papal infalibility, and when i read about the philioque controversy that really got me thinking things just weren't right). Anyway I have been browsing this site for about two months now and I was just wondering if anybody can help me out with something. I am just wondering what the history is of the elevation of the host in the western church, it is the one thing that I miss about the latin liturgy (that and ONLY that everything else is so cooky now days) anyway I have heard that this is a fairly late development in the western liturgy does anyone know about when it started.
Thanks so much and I am really looking foreward to chatting with you folks  God Bless. Edmund

You may already know this but he was also the patron saint of England before St. George was adopted by the Normans.

November 20th has come and gone now. Tell us how it went. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear how it all went for you.
