Is it best to gain weight from working out or eating?

Just keep eating more. Unlike nearly everyone else here, you could use a few more pounds.

I know I should but it's very difficult for me. I eat most among the people I know but it does not stay in.

I wonder if perhaps my message was misread...   angel

I think I understood it perfectly  police

Is it best to gain weight from working out or eating?

Propably both.

William, I am an expert.

I was determined not to look emaciated despite being able to eat around 4.5kcal daily and not gain weight.

If that is truly your case, then we can talk.

Most people who can't gain weight underestimate their caloric intake.

Some of us do have higher metabolisms. I do.

I've astounded folks since I was a kid in ability to pack it away.

Getting to 225 lbs at 6" and still having a true 32" waist was the realization of a goal I thought I could never do.

It required a lot of eating, sleeping, and intense but little working out.

After I got to that weight, maintaining 180 isn't hard. But I can still slip to as little as 158 during a fast or when I don't feel well for a while.

But 158 was the heigh end at one time for me in terms of weight as an young adult.

Not everyone is Celticfan:

Blessed with great genetics.
Blessed with a great work ethic.

I've put on 50 lbs in 3 years.

It's called sitting in an office, not working out and every convenience food location around you.

Now my liver is inflammed, time to cut back.

Fasts are tough for me since I love food.

Oh I weighed about 100 lbs before I gained that much weight.

And here I am offering nutritional advice when my own diet was bad.

Yep, skinnier than a rail.

But if you are like me when getting into a serious relationship, you don't care about what you look like.

My hygene went from excellent to very poor, I mean who do I have to impress?

But anytime I have a breakup, I get back to my normal routine of looking attractive...

I did a long time. Didn't do much.

It helped slightly maybe. But hardly noticed a difference.

Because of some health stuff I've been dealing with (forever it seems now) it was suggested I overeat for a while recently.

I was hitting 6-8kcal daily for sometime. I never got over 185.

But I really can't work out anymore for some of the same health reasons in the manner I would need to put the weight on. And frankly I wouldn't want to anymore. It was very taxing.

I was blessed with a huge stomach, I have the scans to prove it. So I can put a lot of volume away at one sitting.

HS.

And yes I was a wrestler and had to struggle to find a decent manner to do so. Having those levers doesn't it lend itself to the way you roll in HS wrestling. Other forms of grappling do make it easier for lankier folks.

Never pinned but I always had to win on points which takes a lot out of the tank over the course of a meet.

My coach wasn't thrilled with my strategy, but it was effective. And I had to come to terms I wouldn't be excellent in the sport, but I was good enough help the team and I enjoyed the sport very much.

No, I boxed. But wasn't a "boxer" by any stretch of the imagination.

And I still rolled after HS. I wrestled with a slight stretch of the imagination.

Some of us where I was were doing MMA before MMA was around except we weren't gay about it.

Boxers, grapplers, and FMA people all training together to learn to harm others.

Just practicing the basics of each. Really you need. Well a handgun is the best, but even then I would suggest anyone who carries to take some real (non-pajama) FMA to learn how to use that weapon when someone gets the drop on you.

Anyway, what does everyone look like?

29X32 for me

~31 x 34 depending on "designer" and cut.

They vanity size men's stuff now as well. And how do you measure the "waist" of pants which don't go to your waist? The methods allow them to fudge stuff to make you feel better about your gut in America.

European men's stuff is cut much different since nearly every European man seemed to suffer my rickets. I had a helluva time finding pants that would go around my thighs. Almost everything looked obscene.

At 6' and 215 I was a monster when I lived in Europe. The northern Europeans were almost always taller, but Cyrillic like, not celticfan like.

I found my waist size to be pretty consistent except for one caveat.

The crotch area was never large enough for me, it was always extremely tight, even at waist size 30.

So I had to buy just a little bit bigger so I could sag them belowthe hips.

I used to buy Diesel jeans on eBay all the time, and really cheap too but that's because they were older models.

Once I gained weight and became a real man, I had the same problem. I at point I could barely wear jeans unless they were waaaayyyy baggy, which I never liked.

The is the first lesson in putting on weight: easiest to hit the thighs and glutes (back is a distant third). Huge muscles and really a guy who is big on top with tiny legs is a house of iron built on sand.

My husband couldn't gain weight for a very long time. When he returned from Basic training he was emaciated. I didn't even recognize him when he stepped off the airplane (we had been together for over 10 years at that point). We had tried giving him calorie drinks of around 2k daily just to maintain his weight. After basic his metabolism became "normal" he doesn't drop weight like crazy when he eats less than 3,500 calories a day anymore. I don't know exactly what it was about basic training that did it. But it made a profound difference in his metabolism.
