It even is in the tradition of Orthodoxy in the Russian Empire, for example concerning the pronounciation of Church Slavonic.
What do you mean?

Originally, Church Slavonic has nasal sounds. Polish still has those, so Poles would be perfectly capable of pronouncing them. But they don't, the use the way it's pronounced in Russia instead.

It's interesting that Bulgarians pronounce Church Slavonic live Bulgarian, Serbs pronounce it like Serbian, Carpatho-Rusyns pronounce it like Carpatho-Rusyns, but in Poland and large parts of Ukraine (MP - notable exception I heard was in and around Chernivtsi), Russian pronounciation is used.

Well, not really. The pronunciation of Church Slavonic in the Polish Church is not exactly the same as in the Russian Church (and I've heard we have pronuncaiiton that's closer to the original; Russians "russianise" Church Slavonic in pronuciation, sometimes even in words). There are some minor differences. Plus, at some parishes, mainly in South, Galician pronunciation is used instead of Polish-synodal one.

See below - not exactly. Plus, it's because of the difficult history. Anyway, Serbian pronuciation was more different, I mean, it used to be more "Serbian", but more than one century ago actually Serbs also accepted synodal (new Russian - in comparison to old Russian, i. e. Old Believers) pronunciaiton, maintaing some own pecularities. It went along with introducing some Russian liturgical traditions; for some years now in Serbia there is quite a strong movement of re-Serbisation liturgics in the Serbian Church.

But it's a total off-top ;)

What did you hear in Chernivtsi?

As Dominika alluded, the Serbs etc. actually pronounce the "Russian" (actually, it is Ukrainian, retaining voice in voiced final consonants, the "ge" as "g/he" etc.) with a Serb etc. accent, the Serbs etc. having abandoned the Serbian etc. recension.

What did you hear in Chernivtsi?

A clearly Ukrainian, or should I said Bukovyno-Rusyn, pronounciation of Church Slavonic. I am not sure how this refers to recensions, but it definitely was with he, okanie, and without Russian palatalisations.

The mainstream Ukrainian pronounciation of Church Slavonic has hard g, akanye and palatalisation? That's funny, never listened enough to grasp it, I'll look into this.

I have very little idea of CS variations, but the first time I downloaded the DL in CS, it was a Ruthenian Catholic text on Latin alphabet, on one hand transliterating "g" to "h" and using okanye, on the other indicating a lot of palatalisation with apostrophes.
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

Yes, because the mainstream pronounciation of Church Slavonic in the UOC-MP is simply the Russian pronounciation.
Non-canonical jurisdictions use Ukrainian rather than Church Slavonic.

So, still using Church Slavonic in a more local pronounciation seems limited to Bukovyna and (although I have not verified than myself), Zakarpattia. In Zakarpattia, even Greek Catholics use Church Slavonic rather than Ukrainian, probably as a way to show that they are directly under Rome, not under the UGCC.

Me today at the Brazilian Historic and Geographic Institute. Rather posting for the background: Sugarloaf Mountain, Atlantic Ocean and Glória marina. The place is extremely interesting, there are great relics of national history inside laid as decoration without any protection.

Some pics of me in Romania

The first one represents my joy of this:
I bought in Romania Micul Ceaslov ("Little Horologion"). This "little" contains: all morning and evening prayers; special prayers for every day of the week; prayer before a journey and prayers before and after the meal; midnight service (versions for weekday, Saturday and Sunday); Matins, all the hours, typika, vespers, compline; service of the psalms; Paschal Hours; Akathist to Jesus Christ, Akathist to the Theotokos, Akathist to the Protection of the Holy Theotokos, Akathist to st. Nicholas; 2 paraklesis to the Holy Theotokos, paraklesis of repentance to Jesus Christ, paraklesis to the Angel Guardian, paraklesis to the all Saints; prayeres before the confession; prayers before and after the Holy Eucharist; general troparions and kontakions to the saints; sinaxar for the whole year (in reality, there are written of the commemorated saints of every day of the year plus troparions and kontakions to them); troparions and kontakions for the days of the week.

And it costed 3,5$.

The rest is: I'm waiting for a husband ;p

Is that Sibiu?
She hears, upon that water without sound,
A voice that cries, “The tomb in Palestine
Is not the porch of spirits lingering.
It is the grave of Jesus, where he lay.”
We live in an old chaos of the sun,
Or old dependency of day and night,
Or island solitude, unsponsored, free,
Of that wide water, inescapable.

Is that Sibiu?

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to go there. I visited Cluj Napoca, Floresti, Brasov, Rasnov, Bran, Sinaia, Prejmer, Bucharest, Constanta (still, not so bad, as we - mum and me - were travelling by local public transport).. The pictures posted there are from Brasov, Bran, Bucharest and Constanta.

Then you haven't tasted proper kind of beer. The myriad of tastes one can find from different kinds of beer is actually larger than in wine.

I agree with you, but the number of differences that one can find in tastes and aroma aren't much.  With beer, water is the defining factor, which is why Guinness brewed in Dublin will not taste the same with water from New York even if all the other ingredients are exactly the same.  Or sometimes, if a brewer is quite the scientist, he can create the same mineral content in water to create an equal brew from somewhere else.  Beer can be brewed every single day.

Wine, otoh, is always affected by time, place, and weather.  Sure, you have large companies whose goal is to make a similar product year in and year out (which is the goal for brewers - consistency), but an interesting year for any given wine is better than even the most difficult to find or unique beers.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

As is malts, yeasts and hops and the time since the beer was brewed. You can't fully replicate, say, German lager with 100% Finnish ingredients because the ingredients aren't exactly the same to their Bavarian counterparts.

As for variety of tastes, compare for example stouts, sours and trappists side by side and you wouldn't think that they all consist of warer, yeast, hops and malts.

I agree with you.  Taste is subjective, that's why I wrote that i find wine "usually" more interesting.  I can't tell you how many times beer tasted like "beer" or wine tasted like "wine" because they were unremarkable, regardless of style or provenance.

What did you do there? Romania is not too far from Finland and I've sometimes thought of paying a visit.

Visiting monasteries and churches (and praying in them), visiting castles, musuems, walking in the streets, swimming, eating in local restaurants... I would say, normal things ;) Above 190 km by foot and above 1600 km by local public transport during these 16 days.

Hopefully you will hear the latest best of ancient wisdom of Nazi Elders and Gypsy magic while you are there and keep illuminating us with those.

I'm with the camp of 13 million Americans that believe politicians are, or are controlled by, Reptilians. I think only monks can solve this problem. It doesn't seem right that they prefer to ignore it.

Have you closed your window at night? Romanians may still have vampire issues.

Somewhere in the augustin's Romanian lore there are Holy Elders singing Romanian Iron Guard hymns.

My fiance and I are on the right. The priests in the middle and on the left are our parish priests, and second from the left is Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada.

The one at the left looks so much like a subdeacon at my church it made me jump.

Myself and, at my right, my godson Teodoro just after his chrismation by Fr. Roman. I'm not short at all, the guy is almost 2 meter tall (6'6'' in barbarian).

^crossing arms in a church-setting looks instantly Old-Believer-ish. Wish they had right-glorifying beards too.

My son and his friend and I went to say prayers at the cemetery today. So this is my "Halloween" picture.  ;)
