Fr. Aidan - so great pictures too Wink But this small cups for the Paschal candle make me laugh Wink never seen such kind of protection for candles in church (especially for priest's ones)

So sometimes when I travel, I serve Western Rite, which I have done at St. Nicholas ROCOR Monastery in N. Fort Myers, Florida,

Is it WR or BR monastery?

Thanks, Cyrillic and Achronos. I am working in a temp job at a doctor's office. I also have a possible interview coming up for some kind of administrative thing with a local school district. I do a lot of copying and filing, so I guess I am smiling because of the effects of being around too much toner fluid! Smiley

I keep hearing rumors that an old aquaintance of mine from Omaha and his congregation are going to be accepted into the ROCOR Western Rite soon.  The thought of helping out has crossed my mind (given that my heart has always been with ROCOR), but I would not know what to do with my Byzantine vestments that would not fit anyone else in the current parish.  While I prefer the DL over the Mass, I do prefer the other WR services over the Eastern Rite.  Ah, caught between two worlds . . .

You are correct. I indeed was Western Rite. Actually, I am still blessed to do Western Rite, but there is no need at the local parish, which is a standard Russian Orthodox parish. So sometimes when I travel, I serve Western Rite, which I have done at St. Nicholas ROCOR Monastery in N. Fort Myers, Florida, and at the Russian Western Rite Vicariate Conference in August 2012 and also at the Conference in October 2011.

Pictures of such a Western Rite Liturgy, are on the Oremus blog at http://sarisburium.blogspot.com, under the post entitled "WR Conference 2012 a Great Success."

The monastery is Eastern Rite, but the abbess was pleased for there to be a Western Rite Liturgy served, and that local Western people and clergy could be invited and accommodated culturally.

Here is a pic of the Western Rite Liturgy on Aug. 9, 2012, at the Western Rite Conference in New York:

I am the priest celebrating, and the subdeacon Nicholas is holding the "pax" icon which the people come forward and kiss, at the time of the kiss of peace. The deacon is seen just to my right.
