The RC wouldn't have him in their cemeteries because of his communism+atheism although they tried to fabricate some pious story about a death-bed return to the fold.

If "the RC" indeed fabricated such a story, it didn't make much sense to refuse him burial once he would have been back "in the fold", did it? Unless they gave him some penance to do in the white Russian purgatory...

More likely it was just a silly rumour that nobody paid any attention to.

But indeed it appears really contrived, probably to boost the image of the church with high profile conversions. Certainly most, at that time (1937) didn't believe it.

So "they" is really just one lone, retired Archbishop.

I read that Romanians like to fondle the genitals of pigs based on a story I once heard about a long farmer who once did that.

Flash poll:

Who would you be more afraid of being trapped in a room with?

The guy in Punch's avatar?
This version of Punch? (If you didin't know his kind and gentle side from the board.)

I'm going to have to say the guy in Punch's avatar. No offense to Punch, but he is a pretty intimidating guy. He looks like he brushes his teeth with vodka and flosses with barbed-wire.

I'm sorry if I offended your socialist or literary sensibilities. Fwiw, I don't really hate Gramsci - I have a great deal of sympathy for what he's been through, even if I don't share (all/most of) his views.

Or maybe the akathist genre isn't all that popular among the Dutch.  Undecided

Not at all.  You have logic problems, though.  Tracing a story back to its source, its the personal opinion of one retired archbishop, not "the church."

Some of the updated pictures, in me in my Reader's duties in Church.  Nativity Feast, the evening of January 6, 2013:

The guy on the left with his back facing you is me, holding the water to be blessed to be mingled with the wine:

At the far back and somewhat center, right in front of the icon of half of the 24 Priests of Revelations, 3rd most bottom row of those priests, between the leftmost and the second leftmost priests is me, serving inside the altar right near the end at the prayer of Thanksgiving:

And this is just a picture of the two priests I serve under, who are in contemplative prayer during the Theophany service, evening of January 18, 2013.  These are perhaps one of the most spiritual priests I have served under, and I consider myself quite fortunate that they would be my spiritual fathers:

But to comment on your bizarre non sequitur about fondling pigs genitals I have no statistical data but I would still bet my fortune that would be more common among Germans than Romanians. They do not have a reputation for nothing.

On the t-shirt is a cartoon character that had its own series in the Greek edition of Metal Hammer magazine, introducing the line-up of the 2002 Metal Wave festival.

If you really mean what's in the shirt, though, you'll have to use your God-given imagination. Wink

An average friday with some friends. I'm the one in the red jacket. The hat that the guy on the left is wearing is mine too.

I've got a lot of Celtic blood. 1/4 Scottish and 1/4 Irish. I might be part Cornish too.

Those are mostly ties, not belts.
