Title: Surgical removal of four wisdom teeth
Post by: 88Devin12 on August 08, 2011, 07:23:57 PM

Just got back from the oral surgeon and had my four wisdom teeth all cut out. So far it's been good, just waiting for the painful Period to go away, but pain medication makes it feel so much better!

You'll probably be swollen like a chipmunk for a few days, but try not to laugh when you see yourself in the mirror. Ow!

Lol thank you! I've been drifting in and out of sleep. My mothers dog is sleeping with me... She's watching wrestling with me at the moment... They've gave me from some really good pain medication, so it is helping a lot.

I had my four taken out while in high school.  I still have them.  Not so much pain but definitely annoying, especially once you start playing with the stitches with your tongue; you can't stop!

Lord, have mercy!

I was blessed with only one....and that one was hanging out a bit since it had no tooth on the bottom to bite onto. When they took it out, the worst part was the novocaine shot into the roof of my mouth! >:(

Hope you feel better soon!

Lord have Mercy.

Just had the right 2 wisdom teeth taken out last Friday - haven't needed pain meds since Friday night.   :)

Feel better, Devin. Maybe you should invoke the intercessions of St Apollonia, she's the patron saint of Dentists and tooth problems.

God bless,
Severian

Ouch, well... speedy recovery!  And don't make the mistake that I did and drool (bloody drool) all over your pillow  :P

Hope you feel better soon and enjoy the pain-free feeling (with proper use of meds, when needed, of course). I hope you found your favorite foods that are a-ok to eat after the surgery! I think I remember drinking room temp veggie and chicken broth and eating jello at first, and soon graduating to some of my favorite foods: stuffing, cranberry sauce, lipton's chicken soup, mashed potatoes...mmm. I was home from college, so I made a little vacation of it! My favorite foods, a pile of books on the dresser, and lots of restful sleep.

I wish you the same. :)

Thank you all!
I'm eating tapioca pudding and chocolate pudding, as well as drinking water and sierra mist.

I haven't bled for a few hours so that is good, I just hope the clots stay where they are supposed to.

Might want to try some apple sauce tomorrow.  Also, in March I had to have a gum graft redone.  I do not like tea, but the Mrs. bought me some with tannins in it, and said it would make my mouth feel better -- It did.
  Either way, LORD have mercy!

It is 3 in the morning and our dog is still laying at my feet :)
I rewarded her with some of my pudding... She is being so sweet...

Its been a couple days now and I'm feeling much better, no pain at all. My left side had swollen real big yesterday, but after leaving ice on it last night, it has gone down significantly. (though still swollen)

I also started brushing, and rinsing my mouth yesterday. It seems I'm making some pretty good progress. My diet has pretty much consisted of pudding (vanilla, chocolate and tapioca), mashed potatoes, soup (tomato and chicken noodle) and smoothies. Though it is getting to the point where I can probably start taking on tougher foods.

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes!

My son has an impacted wisdom tooth that will be extracted next week. The antibiotics they put him on have helped quite a bit so far.
