Title: Read a New JTC Tract
Post by: ComingHome on February 24, 2011, 02:02:41 PM
I recently picked up and read a "new" (new to me that is) Jack Chick tract called "There Go the Dinosaurs!"  It was one of the finest example I have ever seen of making outlandish statements and not offering even an ostensible bit of proof to back them up.  Chick usually quotes from some ridiculous book or something but in this "jewel" he doesn't even bother.  He just makes up a story about ancient men eating what "may" be the last dinosaur.  I would love to hear if anyone else has read this and what your reaction was to it.

I find Jack priceless myself. I'm a long time collector of many types of  comic books and Jack's work has a  certain shall we say er, reputation in the industry. Naive primitivism might be a charitable way to describe it. Jack never lets fact stand in the way of his various views. My favourites over the years have been the various attempts to warn us of the 'evils' of Dungeons and Dragons.

I guess J. Chick thought "The Flinstones" was a documentary.

I've seen the parody one above on a few occasions. Do you know the Cthulu parody that's also a spoof of his stuff? I used to work with a guy who shoved these tracts at me every day for about 3 or 4 years. In England and Ireland they are not so common and I'd never have been exposed to them personally except for that. I'd heard of them but the reality was far more amusing as this was back in the days before the internet when you could read them online.

He writes this (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0058/0058_01.asp?Store=True)

and then says

Quote from: www.chick.com/seasonal/halloween/tractsuggestions.asp
When handing out Chick tracts on Halloween, consider the ages of the children when deciding which tracts to drop in their bags. Some tracts are designed for younger children, while others are better suited for teens. Here are a few suggestions to get you started. Chick tracts are $.16 each or $4.00 per package of 25.

How great is that?

Definitely the most frightening thing the kids are liable to encounter on Halloween without a doubt...... :D

He is, by his own standards, supporting and engaging in something that he believes the Lord hates because it's satanic.

There's a youtube series of dramatic readings of Chick tracts:
