Title: Works on Repentance and Discipline
Post by: kansas city on July 22, 2010, 02:36:24 PM
Especially for laymen.  I know there are an abundance of works for monastics and on these topics in the context of monasticism.  I know the same ideas apply and much can be gleaned from these works, but it would be nice to find something that deals with these things in the context of married and family life.

Does anyone have recommendations they feel strongly about or have really 'clicked' with?

How about:
The forgotten medicine: The mystery of repentance (The spiritual writings of Archimandrite Seraphim Aleksiev) by Saint Nektarios Press

And

Repentance and Confession by Saint Nektarios

Thank you so much.  I remember buying The Forgotten Medicine, but it somehow sprouted legs like so many boooks and prayer ropes before it.  I'll have to look again.

As an aside, do your prayer ropes disappear disproportionately to other stuff?

No, because I only have rosaries and don't use them much. It may be a good sign, like a worn Bible.
