Title: Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith
Post by: Alveus Lacuna on November 03, 2009, 03:17:19 AM
Can anyone point me to a solid book edition of this work in its complete form?

You mean the Orthodox Faith itself:

or the rest of the Fountain of Knowledge (Philosophical Chapters, Heresies):
John of Damascus trans. FH Chase Jr. (New York: Fathers of the Church, vol. 37, 1958)

I have read it online at www.newadvent.com. Not sure how good the translation is.

The only thing I know of is the Schaff edition (Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers: Second Series, Volume IX, Hilary of Poitiers, John of Damascus), which is available on Amazon.com for $22. It was through that collection that I eventually got ahold of the Orations and Letters of St. Gregory the Theologian (though unfortunately not all of them).

Can I get some links to hard copies of the book for sale?  I can't read things like this online.  I have to be holding paper in my reading chair.  ;)

Then why not download the document, render it in Word format (very easy), then print it? Works for me.  ;D

Like most things Patristic, you gots to read German if you want good access to the sources in a modern language. Kotter has a magisterial five volume critical text of St. John's corpus.

However, as Isa said way above, by far the best single edition in English is Frederic H. Chase's translation in The Fathers of the Church series published The Catholic University of America Press. It's based on Migne's edition, which has a number of errors, as usual, but it's much more complete than anything else in English.

Kinkos/FedEx (or any decent copy shop) will print and bind anything for you.
