Title: Blessed Feast of Ascension to All
Post by: PeterTheAleut on May 27, 2009, 11:23:59 PM
You ascended in glory, O Christ our God,
granting joy to Your Disciples by the promise of the Holy Spirit.
Through the blessing, they were assured
that You are the Son of God,
the Redeemer of the world!

- Troparion/Apolytikion of the Feast in Tone 4

When You had fulfilled the dispensation for our sake,
and united earth to heaven:
You ascended in glory, O Christ our God,
not being parted from those who love You,
but remaining with them and crying://
"I am with you, and there is no one against you!"

- Kontakion of the Feast in Tone 6 (Plagal of Tone 2 for you Greek folk)

Amen!  The importance of the Ascension is all-too-often very underrated.

Christ is Ascended!
From earth to heaven!

Has anyone ever noticed that these 40 days go by INFINITELY faster than Lent's 40 days?  Just thought it was an interesting feeling.

Christ is Ascended!

From Earth to Heaven!

Some I know are trying to promote this as a greeting (until Pentacost, when it becomes "The Spirit has descended!" R: "From Heaven to Earth!").

I have never heard any of these Greetings in Greek.  I'm not disputing them - just never heard them said in Greek.

I've heard people say "αναλἠψι ο Θεὀς, ανἀληψε ο Θεὀς"

Christ is ascended!  Glory to Him!

I'm so distressed that I missed Vespers/Liturgy for this oft-forgotten feast yesterday.
