Title: Forgiveness Sunday, 2009.
Post by: ozgeorge on February 28, 2009, 09:39:57 AM
Forgiveness Sunday has come upon us here in Australia.

I bow down before each one of you and ask you to forgive me, a sinner.
If I have offended you, if I have failed you, if I sinned against you by something I have done, or said, or thought, or failed to do, I ask you to forgive me for the sake of Christ.

God Forgives.

Though there be nothing in my conscience of offense between me and thee; may God who sees the heart and knows the thoughts and requires an accounting of words, evenatnumbering the hairs on our head not number the multitude of my transgressions and forgive me even as I forgive others and may we all attain to peace and unity in true faith and knowledge in the day when He who judges the secrets of mens hearts.

To all my brothers and sisters in Christ (both Orthodox and non-Orthodox) -

I ask forgiveness for any hurt caused by my words when I defend my jurisdiction, beautiful Orthodox Catholic faith, or reply to posts where religion and politics go hand in hand and are used to justify hatred amongst christians.

Forgive me a sinner!

Dear brother and sisters, and all other friends on OC.net,

I would like to take this blessed opportunity to humbly prostrate myself before each of you and ask your forgiveness for my horrible attitude, bad judgment, and hurtful words.  Please, for the sake of our salvation, forgive me a sinner.  In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

May each and every one of you have a blessed Holy and Great Lent!

Dear Friends,

I don't post here much, but wanted to say this:

Amid the "fun" of the Maslenitza - Cheesefare or Butter-Sunday - there is the everpresent knowledge that Lent is almost here. Tomorrow we begin the Great Lent. Theodora has sent the Women's List the "Clean Monday" post <http://jennelou.tripod.com/Update20050423/Pillow/index.html> (http://"Clean Monday" post <http://jennelou.tripod.com/Update20050423/Pillow/index.html>) , which illustrates so clearly the way this time was worked into the lives of the Russians of the 19th century.

This post asks us how we will live out Great Lent. Will we frivol the time away, or use it profitably for the salvation of our souls?

The Church calls us to prayer and repentance. The Canon of St. Andrew will be chanted in parts this week and in its entirety on the Thursday of the 5th week.

"It is time for repentance. I draw near to Thee, my Creator. Take from me the heavy yoke of sin, and in Thy compassion grant me tears of compunction."

The first Stichera of the Vespers of Forgiveness Sunday says it all:

Tone 2 (by Joseph)

Let us humble the flesh by abstinence:,
As we follow the divine path of pure fasting.
With prayers and tears let us seek the Lord who saves us.
Let us put an end to anger, crying out:
Save us who have sinned against Thee!
Save us, O Christ our King, as Thou didst save the men of Ninevah,
And make us partakers of Thy heavenly Kingdom, O compassionate One!

O dear friends! Forgive me, a sinner!

Love in Christ,
Dr. Elizabeth, the sinner
and Perennial Student

God forgives and I forgive.

If I have offended anyone (Bono Vox, Nacho, Blagoliubetsky, Papist, Ozgeorge, Aristekles, Cleopas, Mr Y/Mrs EoK, David Young, Deacon Lance, .....), I beg forgiveness.

May you have a blessed Lent, and enter the Joy of Pascha, the Queen of Days.

Today, I heard the sound of healing leaves

Man, woman and child bowed down their knees and gave
that which was also hoped to be received.

On these pages which now I read,
I hear again the sound of healing leaves,

From my brother's Cross I heard,
 the sound of healing words.

It snowed today,
and God manifest Himself in marvelous ways.

The Spirit moved me and now I speak
to give freely as I have received.

Forgive me a sinner,

healing talk for my needs.

My brothers Cross began to speak to me,  I freely gave that which
I wanted to receive.
