Title: My daughter "Wooster"
Post by: Quinault on February 21, 2009, 03:56:10 AM
Woo has always had a weaker immune system. She was born tongue tied and was hospitalized for RSV at 6 months. She is currently really very sick. She is 3.5 and typically weighs about 32 lbs. But she has lost 4 lbs in the last two days. She should weigh closer to 35 at a minimum. She stops eating when she gets sick and at the moment she can't keep anything in or down. Either it shoots straight thru or comes right back up. It took a colossal effort on my part to get her up to 32 lbs. I had to give her high calorie drinks and monitor her eating a great deal for about 6 months to get her up to this weight-before she was about 28lbs. It doesn't sound like much I know, but a 4 lb weight loss on such a little frame is really scary, especially when it took so long to get her here. She isn't even on the growth charts for weight anymore, but in the 20th percentile for height. Those few pounds were what was keeping her somewhat height/weight proportionate. I hate seeing her like this. If you could pray for her I would appreciate it. Her illness isn't over yet and I fear how much more weight she will lose in the process of this illness.

And I also had to have a root canal done on Thursday as a result of a broken tooth, so my patience is on the lower side. If you could pray for my patience and attitude I would appreciate it. Being able to tag team caring for (and cleaning up after) a sick child is something you really don't appreciate fully until you can't do it. And I really worry about this child. A mother worries about all her kids, but she is by far my most "frail" child.

My sister was underweight most of her life and had bad asthma, so I can relate to what you mean by "frail."

I will definitely keep your daughter in my prayers!

Maureen

Lord of wisdom and mercy, please visit your handmaiden and heal her as you know the weaknesses of our human nature. Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth and love, give patience and strength to your handmaiden and comfort her. Amen.

May Our Lord grant you peace and strength in this time of trial and affirmity. May He strengthen and heal your daughter, and ease your suffering.

As a father, I know how it feels to see your own child frail and struggling. My second born son was hospitalized for two weeks after his birth due to a lung infection. But today he is the epitome of health and strength.

I know that you are battling with many difficult circumstances at this time. You and your entire family have my prayers. Trust in the Lord, for when we are weak He is strong!

In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, One God,
                                             -Amen-

Selam

She is eating and drinking a little today! The other two and I are sick now too. But it is wonderful to have her doing better at the moment. Thank you so much for the prayers.
