So after our bodily death our souls will go to God...do we actually "see" this vision of God? Since we can't view the soul by eyesight I'm perplexed on how one can have this "vision" of God.

One of the things I'm interested in is St. Lazarus' experience in Sheoul; is there any Church tradition where he talks about his 4 days in Sheoul? I know he didn't smile in the remainder of his life, except on one occasion, but I'm curious on what his exact experience was like.

My thinking is that the soul will have means of perception which it may not have now or which it has in an undeveloped form.

But that is only my thinking.  The Church is extremely  reticent on topics such as these and all we can formulate is speculative; Christ revealed so little to us about the afterlife.

I recommend you read The Mystery of Death by N. Vassiliadis, which offers extended patristic citations to all of the questions one might have about death.  Here is the table of contents:

Life After Death by Metropolitan Hierotheos (excerpts here).

Both are available from interlibrary loan to those living in North America; the latter is especially hard to find sometimes.

What is this interlibrary loan program Father? Where can I access this?

Thanks for your response Fr. Ambrose, would it be that Christ wants us to focus more on what we should we be doing in this life rather than so much emphasis on the things to come? That's how I would view it atleast.

You go down to your local public library and ask at the reference desk if they participate in Interlibrary Loan.  If they do, then you tell them the details of the book you want. You can use http://www.worldcat.org/ to get the details of books for them to locate.

They then place an order, and in 2-5 weeks, your book arrives! In all my experience, it is always free, but some institutions do charge you for the shipping.
